UCSD Class of 2019 Decisions/Discussion

I didn’t even realize decisions were out until I saw someone’s tweet about it!

Accepted

GPA: 4.3
SAT: 2210
College: Thurgood Marshall
Major: Literature/Writing

@StevenToCollege‌

For Regents look at “My Financial Aid Estimate”

Rejected structural engineering
1930 sat 4.1 uc gpa good ec’s, bummed out and i got rejected from davis too lol but whatevs, got into slo and probably gonna go there

Accepted

Major: Nano Engineering (2nd choice  )
College: Muir (first choice)
ACT: 34
Unweighted GPA: 4.0

Accepted to Warren: Applied for CS, got in Undeclared. But it’s fine because I’ll probably change my major to Math: Computer Science which is non-impacted. Also, I’ve been accepted to Purdue for CS since December.

Stats:

Applying as OOS/International from Tennessee (Canadian-citizen). ACT Comp is 32, 33 superscore. 34 Math, 34 English-9Writing. School only offered 4 APs and schedule worked out to where I was able to take 2. Top 10% of class.
GPA is 3.78/4.0 and 4.6+/5.0 (I heard that UC’s don’t look at freshman year grades so my GPA would be around 3.9 if so)

Few EC’s like Treasurer of Math Club, Chess Club, National Beta Club, Kenpo Karate, Rec league basketball

200+ volunteer hours at public library

(EC’s aren’t impressive but I live in a small town and go to a medium/small sized high school where there aren’t many opportunities to be in several clubs at the same time. Also, out of my graduating class, I have more extracurricular activities than anyone else as far as I know. )

My ACT score is the 2nd highest in my graduating class (It’s the smartest class since 2012 but just not good standardized test takers I guess.)

rejected :frowning: but congrats to those who got in!

Hi, got into Warren. Applied for COMP SCI got Undeclared. I wasn’t expecting this though.
How many people were denied CS?

Rejected:

SAT: 670 R, 770 M, 650 W
SATII: 770 Math II, 770 Chem, 750 Physics
Intended Major: Physics
UC GPA: 3.9

@StevenToCollege‌ Many of those offered Regents scholarships were contacted in the telephone campaign last week. The Regents Scholarship shows up in the “Grants and Scholarships to Pay for College” table of the Financial Aid Estimate/Continue to Awards page.

Accepted in Muir for CS –

UC GPA: 4.2
SAT: 2280
SAT II math: 770, Japanese: 550

Major ECs: Pianist for 10 years, 2 engineering internships, president of club

@PCMguy I’m on the same boat. So, I’m chaning my major to Math- Comp. Science, so it’s all good

I got CS at Warren (First Choice!) So happy

Got in. But 3rd choice 6th college and undeclared major. Applied 1st choice CS, 2nd Computer engineering. Very disappointed. Can someone tell me in this case is there a hope to get into CS or CE? If not, probably will not go.

Stats: SAT: 2100, UC GPA: 4.35, UW GPA 3.96
SATII Math 730, Bio 770, 8 APs, 4&5s. 4yr swim team, Pro online game player.

I believe ucsd doesn’t let you transfer into engineering college

receive email before the decision come out?

@kitty1 The decision was posted about three hours ago and I just received the email about ten minutes ago

Waitlisted… What chance do I have of getting in if I opt in for waitlist?

I was waitlisted for CS.
OOS
3.5 uw / 4.4 w
2150 SAT

Rejected.

4.1 Weighted, 3.5 unweighted.

2240 SAT, 34 ACT

800 SAT 2 Math 2

740 SAT 2 Chem

7 APs with 4 or higher.

EC 1: Programming intern @UC Berkeley
EC 2: Asian literature translation startup founder

Pretty strong writer, disappointed I didn’t get in

Applied to Engineering

Those who have been admitted as undeclared: You can apply ONLY to a non-impact major. If you do not wish to do so, it would be better to go to a school in which you have been admitted for your major. I got in undeclared after applying for CS, but I notice that Math+CS is non-impact so I will choose to take that as my major if I go to UCSD.

Here is a link with all the majors; asterisks indicate impact majors
