I’ve heard rumors that UCSD doesn’t take into consideration majors while accepting students. I find this highly unlikely, but is there any chance this is true?
@stressed4lyfe yes, that is true. UCSD has written that down on it’s website as well.
UC San Diego is a popular campus with an international reputation for excellence. Each year the campus receives more applications from eligible students than can be accommodated and, as a result, is highly selective. Successful applicants must exceed the minimum UC admission criteria. The campus does not admit students on the basis of academic major or choice of UC San Diego undergraduate college.

@Digitallyshrewd thanks for clarifying!
Will decisions be coming out saturday?
I have the same housing message as others here ( “The housing application will become available in late-March…”). I think I’m a real longshot for UCSD, though I did get the supplemental applications so there is at least some hope.
@smileesarefree @raf1997 Yup, I got the same thing, so just repeating what @smileesarefree does anyone not have that?
Did anyone get a call today??
SD started calling for regents, 2 of my classmates got regents
At what time did they start calling??? I haven’t received any sort of notification from them and it’s starting to make me a bit worried!
@IAmTheGOAT i think around 8
@ukitake123 Welp, didn’t get a call. Probably not getting it…
neither did i gg
based on previous years I definitely think it’s going to be this Saturday around noon PST
Are they calling because students are invited to apply for Regents, or that they have been awarded Regents? My daughter missed the call when we were out (dad told us they called). The suspense is killing us!
@smvlib - you have been awarded regents and admitted.
“Are they calling because students are invited to apply for Regents, or that they have been awarded Regents?”
I believe they are notifying students that they have been both admitted and awarded the scholarship. Some other campuses (notably UCB and UCLA) require either interviews or essays, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here–at least that’s what my kid understood this evening.
Have people who have not applied for scholarships been contacted yet?
I didn’t apply for any scholarships and I got the call earlier today!
@missyuri So we get called for the notifications?
My housing notice just switched from the one everyone had yesterday to a new message. It’s 3:15 am Pacific Time (I’m OOS) but may be a sign that I’m rejected, which is honestly what I’m expecting. I’ll check again later in the day, but people may want to go back and look if there are any changes to what they see now. Here’s what mine currently says:
Function Unavailable
TritonLink Availability

If you are receiving this message between 7:00 a.m. and Midnight (Pacific Time), check status.ucsd.edu for updates about unplanned system outages.
Available 24 hours/day — Schedule of Classes, Degree Audit, Transcript Tracking along with other general and personal tools.
