@littlechild I was being sarcastic. D got into ucd with 1550 sat, 4.4 ugpa, national merit finalist, tons of volunteer, leadership and activities.
I know someone who has been rejected and waitlisted from almost all the schools but did amazing on the SAT
You never know why someone is rejected. They could have perfect stats, but it’s possible those two spelling errors on their application turned off the admissions persons or their essays were too self-congratulatory. The possibilities are endless. The initial person reading your essay has to connect with you in some way and almost immediately within the first few minutes.
Mark your calendars! UC Santa Barbara admission decisions will be posted on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. PST on the Application Status portal.
Hopefully UCSD will release today.
I feel like it’d have to either release today or tomorrow because on Thursday, UCSC is coming out, and on Friday, UCLA is coming out, and next week I feel like would be too late. Also, I’ve never seen UCSD come out after UCLA, so hopefully that means that it WOULD come out this week.
@Julieta2321 can u tell us when they come out. And do they always tell u guys first?
@cutiepie679 lol people have never seen UCSD release not with UCD but here we are. Calling campaign is starting next week and RDs have always been coming out after the calling campaign.
@party123 Yes. If we don’t get told by 10:36 am than it won’t be today. We always get told first, for the past twelve or more years we have been told first.
And is that 10:36 am PST?
@ljtx46 Its La Jolla time. (PDT?) It’s currently 10:15 am.
Nothing came in today, so it won’t be today.
@Julieta2321 Thank you for sparing us from having to check this thread obsessively for the rest of the day! Much appreciated
@Julieta2321 thank you!
That is odd though. How come UCSD is pushing their notification and calling campaign wayyyyy farther than previous years? Maybe the amount of applicants this year was too much?
@orionary Yeah probably. There were so many UCSD applicants this year.
Here is the Congratulations video that will be attached to our acceptance emails. Uploaded a week ago on Vimeo by the UCSD official account.
Im debating whether they are going to increase the amount of admittance or keep the same amount from previous years and send a bunch of rejections…I think they’re trying to keep the same amount of previous years, but I think they’re being very picky on who to admit.
Does anyone know how many Freshman they offer admittance to and how many they actually admit?
@fingerscrossed40 not sure about 2017 but for 2016 they admitted ~30,000 and about 5,700 of those students enrolled.
