I can imagine that they are scrolling through CC and laughing at us lol @Birdypurdy @Heisenberg1700
I am really scared, i had accidentally submitted the incorrect grade for a Berkeley summer sessions course I took and corrected it through the UC center only recently as I had not went back and looked at my application. It was my fault for being to quick when looking over my app and the transcript is already in the UC system visible to every campus. The rest of my stats are pretty good (1540 SAT, 34 ACT, 3.9 UW GPA, 4.6 A-G GPA) but i got denied at UCD to my surprise. Is my mistake grounds for automatic denial to every UC and should I expect that or do i still have a chance?
@Julieta2321 do you usually hear the morning of the day admissions come out?
How does somebody with a 1540 SAT and 4.6 GPA get denied from Davis?! This makes no sense…
He is probably overqualified and the admission committee knew that he is applying only to keep it as a safety. One possible explanation.
@Davidjcshen I accidentally made a mistake on my uc apps and got it corrected through the uc center like a month or two ago and I was waitlisted for davis
I do not think that is fair. Somebody who does that well in school should be rewarded by having options available. What if a high stat student had Davis as their dream school? Not everyone bases decisions on prestige.
@cocoonutty I agree they have no way of knowing if the school is a students “safety” or if they genuinley want to go to that school
We have to put into consideration of the essays too.
@skyinthesky Yes. We are either going to receive a phone call or we are going to be called into the office. It is usually in the morning.
I hate to be the bearer of crappy news or realizations but you have to consider the number of freshmen applications each UC campus receives each year. The previous amount was nearly 100K and it’s only going to continue to rise with each year. Most (if not all) of those applicants have the same stats, ECs, etc. as one another. Some people are going to hear no, others will get a yes, and some will be placed on the waitlist. That’s just admissions. Think about the other thousands of students from across California, across the US, and internationally, who apply to UCSD.
If you get denied your dream school, there are many options out there for you. Maybe UCSD is your dream school but they tell you no. Another school will be so happy to have you there and college is what you make of it. It’s never going to be “fair” to everyone because UCSD, or any other UC, cannot accommodate 90,000+ applicants.
I almost meant to add that UCSD has calling campaigns starting next month, right before spring quarter - starting April 2nd. So expect admissions results sometime this week or next. We’ll be calling!
@thinkweism What do you mean? I thought the calling campaign was starting this monday? Sorry, I don’t understand
Calling campaigns this Monday are for regents, etc. Regular campaigns for answering admitted freshmen questions are on April 2nd. I just registered.
@oneidp i noticed the error after I got denied and it was a UC summer grade that is already in my official UC transcript
@thinkweism oh, interesting. Thank you.
I had made up my mind for this Friday They should send regents later because they know that with these stats they have very high chances of being admitted. It’s average students who are unsure!
I read something that said UCSD is releasing on the 15th
@smlsml4444 Where did you see that?
There’s been an extensive discussion on this thread about why Friday makes sense as the date. It’s tied to when alumni calls to admitted students started (I believe).
