@Taurus01 no, global health is not capped
I’m really nervous because I got waitlisted at Santa Cruz. Is this an indication that I won’t get into higher tier UC’S
@atheist123 not necessarily. What are your stats like? Those are a better indicator than what schools waitlisted you.
My gpa is my concern its really low like a 3.4. My Sat is 1460. Math 2 800. Physics 750.
My GPA is like a 3.4. Sat 1460. Math 2 800 physics 750
Oh that’s rough. For 2018, 25%-75% of the admitted students to UCSD had a GPA between 4.02-4.28 and seems to be similar for the other UCs. That’s not to say you have zero chance. Did your GPA improve over time? Did you have a lot of ECs? Your SAT is in that average, and your SAT subject tests look good - but they don’t consider those in the application process.
What major? That is a huge factor
@meb1meb1 No, UCSD accepts students into the college first and then assigns a major
My GPA progression is pretty stagnant. I think I had pretty good ECs and essays to be honest. I didn’t think I’d get waitlisted tho. Honestly really hoping for Cal Poly Slo. But the No determination has been made at this time is killing me.
My first one was computer science and my alternate was mathematics.
Those are both capped majors
Remember that it is not the end of the world if you don’t get into college right away. Use the community college system to improve your stats and transfer. It will save you money in the long run as well.
Yeah I’m seriously considering that now.
Hey guys, when can we expect the decisions coming out?
Also, could you please chance me for cs
act 34
sat phy 780
sat math2 800
sat chem 800
converted gpa 3.9
lot of cs and data science related ecs along with regional athlete
@j678jgpo is this UC gpa? I would hope that UC looks at your freshman gpa also and # of AP/IB classes, For example, I took a total of 8 AP and 3 IB classes, up to junior yr. Now, I am taking 2 AP, 3 IB and a multi var calculus classes at a cc. For some reason, I think all these does not count for UC. The main factors are the UC GPA and SAT/ACT scores
They look at it but it doesn’t really affect anything. They look at freshmen year to see how you started off and if you improved throughout HS. I don’t think they count it towards your GPA because most people are still adjusting to the high school life throughout freshman year. APs taken in your Soph/Junior year are counted in the UC GPA to an extent. They mainly look at your AP scores to give you credit which exempts you from taking their equivalent of the AP class.
Yes, they really look at UC GPA and SAT/ACT. They look to your essays to see who you are as a person. As for AP and CC credits, you would have to see with each specific college on their policy. Each one is different. Personally, all my AP credits have been applied to classes/electives, as well as my CC credits.
Nothing from UCSD today, but D was accepted to Harvey Mudd. Still waiting on decisions from UCSD, UCLA and USC. Accepted at UCI & UCSB.
@j678jgpo My point is that if you want to go to a UC, all you need is take the 4 AP/honor courses which will count for your UC GPA and make sure you get A in them all, there is no need to take any extra difficulty courses. If you do, you might lower you UC GPA and harm your chances of accepting to UC
@Karate111 APs and honors tend to be harder, since they are college classes. I see no problem in doing that. That also doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do well on the SAT/ACT. People learn at different rates. Some of my friends here have never taken an AP class.
