You mentioned that the UC’s make the ELC determination when apps are submitted, they also utilize a different method and I’m not sure how recently they started doing this.
We received an email from D’s school roughly last April informing us that D was currently in the top 9% and if she was still in the top 9% at the end of the year it was requesting permission to send her information to the UC system so they have a prenotification.
At the beginning of this school year I emailed her counselor to find out what happened and she replied saying her name was submitted.
The in September of ‘18 we received a letter from the UC system congratulating her on being top 9% of CA and telling her about the guaranteed admit to at least one UC.
I know that her hs did not do this in 2015 or 2017 when both her brothers were also top 9%. I’m not sure if all schools do this however I know that the roughly 10 hs’s In our district does now do this.
I think it may also be new this year which would make a difference for all of us with children that graduate previously. I think it’s good to know that at least some schools release this information to the UC system.
@teambyerline: I have heard that some HS’s do the method you posted so not new. Also the ELC GPA benchmark is periodically re-evaluated so maybe the school was asked to submit data for that re-evaluation.
@GoDogsGo often people are accepted into their alternate uncapped major or even as undeclared. In the past CS applicants were accepted into Cognitive Science or as undeclared when they they didn’t request either as their first or second choice.
Does everybody have this message at the top of their portal?
“You will receive an email notification no later than March 30 when application decisions are posted in the Portal.”
Does this mean that decisions are coming on the 30th? Sorry, the wording seems unclear.
