UCSD Class of 2023

Got in with 4.22 UC GPA and 31 ACT. Good to have as I just got rejected from UCLA and UCSB. I’m a political science major in Warren College. Good EC’s and LOR’s.

Accepted. Math and CS. Will post details in the decisions thread.

UCSD Roosevelt undeclared, applied to the CS major
SAT: 1480
GPA: Unweighted 3.77, Weighted unknown
AP classes taken = 6, will be graduating with 11 AP credits.
No scholarship offered so far.
EC sufficient in CS, have a research paper published and over 3 years of TA experience, got into USACO Gold division.

My friend was accepted by Oxford computer science bachelor+master combined program but still got undeclared in UCSD, this year is tough.

Accepted under Anthropology to Marshall college!

30 ACT with a 10 in writing
Decent ECS (Academic Decathlon, ASB, Art, 100 service hours, no work experience, some local/school awards, leadership)
My essays were pretty well written (I discussed my experience as a leader for my decathlon team, makeup as a form of artistic expression, understanding the significance of literature, and how I perceive my surroundings)
First gen college student
I’ve been waitlisted from UCLA and admitted to UCSB, Cal Poly SLO, and the SDSU Honors college.
So proud of everyone for getting this far! I hope everyone finds a great fit next year, and congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!

What does it mean that I got in as an undeclared major when I’d applied as a CS major?

@Rgdodp: It means you need to change majors which is by lottery if you want CS at UCSD.

UCSD has 99,000 applicants this year for 5900 freshman spots. Even they accepted twice as many, the acceptance rate is going to be just 12%. From their record in Niche, their acceptance rate was 34%. Why it is getting so competitive now for all UC’s as well as UW? Where are all those HS students coming from?

However, it is easy to get into UCSD from community colleges. I know many with just 3.4 to 3.5 GPA and can transfer from Mesa College. Some even got into UCB and UCLA too. They were so bad that they couldn’t get into SDSU and Long Beach State after HS so they settled to CC. Getting a 3.5 GPA is fairly easy in CC and first year of CC is free now. Only drawback in CC is that there are no dorm, no Greek, not much school spirit, a lot of students are in their 30’s and 40’s and some even at 60’s, many of them working full time.

I got accepted into UCSD and I go to 1 of the schools that are partners with the Chancellor’s Associate Scholarship Program. My income is definitely under $80,000 and I’m also a resident of California. However, on the “Financial Aid” page it show that I did not receive the Chancellor’s scholarship while all of my friends got it. Should I be worried and try to contact them or is this all just an estimate still.

Did anyone get a scholarship?
