Other people have said that they also got a call. And if you want to look at it that way, then yes, bragging does feel good.

Congratulations, Doener!

Honestly, I think Doener has the right to brag if he/she wants to. If he/she made it to Stanford, he/she probably worked a lot harder than any of us. Heck, I would even brag about it if it were me. It’s well deserved! Congrats!

I got a call on Thursday at 6:30 pm about being accepted.

Doener, do you know if that thing was about the Jacob’s Engineering Scholarship? It’s basically a full ride scholarship to UCSD Engineering, and very few people get it each year.

Not necessarily. Luck does play a large role when it comes to these things.

not a single person from my school in the last three years has gotten into stanford on academic merit. it’s always been for athletics/triple legacy+great grandpa donated half the campus’s land or something.

pretty sad, because there were plenty of great kids who ended up going to ivys without an engineering department as good as stanford’s.

Doener must be really lucky, since he/she got in Stanford AND got invited to breakfast with the dean of engineering. How many people get invited to that anyway? (I didn’t even apply to engineering, I’m just wondering.)

^i guess it’s probably minority recruiting push. doener can clear it up.

Just an update; a few of my friends got the call today.

They are not minorities, but do have good grades and scores.

These phone calls are getting me nervous. Most my friends has just gotten their phone call acceptance, and I’m getting scared now. UCSD is my first choice.

First of all, I dont have any hooks at Stanford or any good ones at least. I’m a urm but my family is well-off so I didn’t have the need to talk about that in any of my applications. The UC’s don’t take race into account anyhow. I don’t think I got the Jacobs full ride thing. Otherwise I would seriously consider UCSD. But the person I talked to on the phone mentioned that I will get some scholarship offers later on/ or at least I will be able to apply to some.

Oh and it’s not a minority program at UCSD if you were wondering

Yeah, they’re making me a little nervous too. I’ve gotten into other colleges but I’m going to feel bad if I get rejected :(

can anyone log on right now?

You cant log into tritonlink after 12 am. Its usually down till 7am but a glitch in the system will let you enter around 1 I think. I usually go around 1:30 or 2 am when I have to check final grades lol

UCSD Admissions just posted this on their Twitter:
“Application decisions for freshmen scheduled to be posted online this weekend, assuming all technology works the way it’s supposed to.”

Ahhh I am SO nervous!!!

I am so nervous too. We’ll see if “this weekend” means the 17th because that’s my birthday!

I think these phone call acceptance are adding anxiety for many applicants. I just wish all colleges send out acceptance/rejection decisions all on the same day. I get discourage when I see friends on facebook and twitter posting updates saying they got accepted already…
