I'm deciding between UCSD majoring in econ or Intl Relations with an econ emphasis or Cal Poly business school. My initial preference was a business school but I didn't get accepted to my private top choices and SD doesn't have a business school. One concern I have is the lack of diversity at SLO and the rep for being a party school. On the other hand at SD I wouldn't be majoring in business. Any input? Thanks.

UCSD has a management science major, which is similar to a business major. And we do have a business school. It’s called the Rady School of Management, and it offers the MBA degree.

You go to college to study a field of interest. Its four years of your life. If you know you want to study business undergraduate, then SLO it is. If, on the other hand, you want to take the next 4 years and explore your interests, study econ, int’l studies, go to a great school, then UCSD it is.

Actually, UCSD’s management science major is quite different than business. It is all economics. I agree with the person above me - if you are 100% sure you want to do business, go to Cal Poly.

I really wanted to major in business as well, but I was not 100% sure - so I chose UCSD and I am extremely happy with my decision.
