ucsd econ or uci business admin

which would you choose? i really am stuck.

I was in your position a couple months back. Honestly, an Economics major is more useful than a business administration major. Business administration just teaches you how to run a successful business. You don’t need a college education to learn how to do that. Although you do learn in depth how to make a business work, it’s more for people wanting to become entrepreneurs and there’s plenty of successful entrepreneurs without a college education.

I was set on UCI Business administration for like all of November. I changed into Economics into all the schools I applied to. I’m going to UCSD for Economics in the fall and they have a solid program. An Economics degree is very useful and is very flexible. You can get alot of different jobs with such a major. I have even met a lawyer and a doctor that both majored in Economics. Doing what they did requires more intelligence than anything, but it just comes to show the foundation Economics creates to one’s critical thinking and that is what ultimately makes an Economics degree so sought after by employers.

They only time Business Administration matters is in graduate school. Getting an MBA is something that really sets you apart when trying to find a job. A Master’s in Economics is also useful, but it really depends on what you want to get into. Those wanting to become Economists and professors get a masters in economics. Those wanting to get a high position in something in the business sector go for an MBA.

There’s nothing wrong with majoring in business administration, but economics is by far more useful.

Economics> Business Administration
UCSD>UCI
(UCI is just flat out weird. I got the weirdest when I visited the campus)

I’m going to be in Warren if by any chance you decide to go to UCSD.

Bump help cant decide!

I agree with SupplySide, you don’t need to study business in university to learn how to do business. You should go for economics instead.

What do you want to do with a econ degree/business admin degree?

But in all honesty, since neither UCI or UCSD are target schools for the business world, it’s going to be tough to break into the industry from either one of the schools. I hate to be a downer, but I’m speaking from personal experience and a lot of my friends’ experience.
