@princetonian9…I haven’t been able to find anything saying tomorrow would be the first day. The only date I’ve seen is “mid march”
@enpz45 going based of last couple of years threads people are predicting it to start the 10th (this Friday)
Really? That seems crazy early, but I’m not complaining.
Wow…that’s early. I don’t really have too much hope for UCSD though becuase they don’t have a Business program and I had to apply to Economics where I am missing a lot of pre reqs (2 adv math classes)
Well take it for what it is! Not confirmed but going based of previous years. Also I think someone said ucsd starts with UCD which is also the 10th if I’m correct. But hey we’re nearly there! It’s a rolling basis so you could find out as early at this friday(potentially) or up through end of April. I wish they would just give us a definite date!
Usually the people that hear first are Reagents Scholars. The majority of people didn’t hear last year until April 22nd (would be April 21st this year) which is also the day that UCLA, UCD, and UCI are expected to release admissions.
@doihaveashot2016 googled the portal, then searched through my emails to find the ID. lol woops i can’t believe i never registered… i registered for all the other UC’s portals… yikes. do they take that into consideration when determining admissions? like, it might seem the student is super disinterested and won’t attend, so they just decline them? (btw i actually am interested in attending lmao)
how do they determine who becomes a reagents scholars? is that a merit scholarship?
I wouldn’t know lol @otoribashi, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it! I think they have too many applicants to look into that. UCSB for example, just sent an email reminding all students to activate their portal if they hadn’t done so already.
Also, I think you have to have a certain GPA or something, and I don’t think you apply for it either. I don’t know too much about it.
@otoribashi @doihaveashot2016 I just looked up how they select students for Regents Scholarships and it says,
“The Regents Transfer Student Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship awarded to undergraduate students at the University of California. Regents Scholarships are merit scholarships, selected on the basis of academic excellence, and receive a $4,000 honorarium paid at $2,000 per year in each of their 2 undergraduate years (plus other special privileges).”
So basically the highest GPA(s)?
@Nataliee177 I think it must be that! My friend transferred with a 4.0, was part of Phi Theta Kappa leadership and the Honors Program at my cc and got it. Maybe they base it off of ECs as well.
On the Berkeley website, it says, “Faculty select candidates from the top entering applicants who have been admitted to Berkeley, as determined by a holistic review by the Academic Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Honors, and Financial Aid”.
@doihaveashot2016 Wow, interesting how it’s so different for the 2 haha. I just hope that even if we aren’t selected for Regents, we don’t have to wait too long. The end of April feels like so far from now.
Hey guys, I’m super nervous about these decisions. Can someone chance me?
GPA: 3.64
Tag: UCSB
Major: Sociology
Pre-reqs: Completed
IGETC: Completed
EC: Ehh, decent
So, I googled UCSD summer schedule 2017, and this page came up:
http://summer.ucsd.edu/calendar/
While the dates are marked as “tentative”, I think it’s safe to say that transfer decisions should be released by April 24, based on this:
Incoming UCSD freshmen and transfer students begin to enroll in courses April 24 April 24 April 24
@lenocturne Based on last year’s dates, some people will begin hearing as early as tomorrow (very small batch) while the majority of us will hear on April 21st. The reason the 21st is most likely is because UC’s tend to release Admissions decisions on Friday’s (last year majority of decisions from UCSD were released on April 22nd). April 21st is also the anticipated date for UCI, UCLA, and UCD.
@Nataliee177 tomorrow - only Regents, though highly unlikely. I would say that most impacted majors (aka engineering) will find out on 21st, last year I got an email on 22nd as well. UCI was April 15 last year.
@lenocturne After looking at lasts years thread, some transfers were notified on tomorrow’s date and did not receive Regents. I’m not sure how they choose who to send out first, I’m sure it includes Regents among others, maybe not-impacted majors (although the ones I saw in the thread were impacted). I agree though, the 21st will hold the majority of transfers. Also, I believe UCI might have started the 15th, but a lot of transfers did not hear until April 22nd (my brother was one of them).
@Nataliee177 I applied to a non impacted major (as well as my second choice). That exciting that there’s the potential to hear tomorrow! Or it could be up to six more weeks :((
@blackonyx Okay, I just went back to the thread and a lot of Political Science majors, Public Health, and Art majors were accepted as early as yesterday (starting at 3 PM). Not all of them were offered the Regents scholarships. But there were also some impacted majors that were accepted: Psychology, Human Biology, and Communications to name a few. Really not sure how they pick who gets sent out first for transfers. But good luck and if you hear back tomorrow, definitely keep this thread updated!
@Nataliee177 Thanks for checking up on stuff! I’m creeping on the 2016 thread myself. The stress is real right now!
I applied as Human Development which I’m pretty sure isn’t impacted. With my luck I probably won’t hear until late April but it’s nice to have some hope for sooner right! Good luck!
What would you say would be a cut off for GPA, if there is one? I heard last year they accepted 3.5 and up and wait listed under that to 3.0. They were super low on numbers so they ended up admitting everyone off the wait list (if they wanted to enroll that is).
@blackonyx Haha, I’m creeping on it too. I’ve been doing so much research, I’m going insane! But I’m too excited/nervous, I just want to know already!
I applied as Human Development (B.S.) as well! Yes, it isn’t on the list of impacted majors, so fingers crossed we hear early and it goes well for the both of us!
I don’t think the 3.5 and up, or 3.4 and below is a legit calculation. I know that a lot of factors go into acceptance consideration (# of pre-reqs completed, essays, GPA, extracirculars, number of units taken, etc.), especially your major! If your major is highly selective, then a higher GPA is required/preferred, but some people definitely get accepted with lower than a 3.5!
