UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Dang when they said late April they actually meant LATE LATE April smh. As long as it’s before the 30th I guess. Honestly I don’t even know what the date is anymore I only know what day it is hahaha

I don’t think they will release the decisions this week actually.

well they supposed to release it this week.

I find it close to impossible that they’ll go past the 30th. They’re well aware of the CSU SIR date on May 1 and they’re also probably well aware of how much kickback there would be if they went into May with this. It would affect their retention and they don’t want that.

they won’t go past the 30th. it’s very very very rare that a school releases decisions more than a couple hours after they said they will. it will be this month

Yea it make senses as well, so probably they will release the decisions by Friday I think. This waiting makes me toooooo tired.

@kaykapowski I’m transferring from Miramar sdccc and an economics major

@kaykapowski I go to a public 4-yr on the East Coast! Most of the campus/students here are STEM-based which makes me feel like a fish out of water and (sadly) UCSD is also the same way from what I’ve been reading. My intent is to graduate with some sort of digital/design media arts degree so you can probably see why I don’t feel like my current school is a fit

I got accepted into SDSU for computer engineering. If I get accepted to UCSD , what would you guys recommend me to accept? Which prepares students more to get a good job in the future?

@Israelitaman UCs are more theory-based, CSUs are more hands-on. Overall I’ve heard better things about CSUs for engineering and compsci BUT you should look at the major requirements on each college’s website and see what fits you better

Called the UCSD Admissions office today. Got confirmation that decisions will definitely not be released this week, but possibly next week. Late April and/or Early May. Also I was told that decisions will be released in the same general period but may not be released at the same time and could come out over multiple days.

@JCMaxwell thats literally the opposite of what other people on this thread are saying lol

@JCMaxwell lies.

It’s possible the admissions representative I spoke to was mistaken. This is just the information I received calling their office about an hour and a half ago. I’m not lying.

They know that students are considering CSU schools so releasing it in May seems very unlikely

It does seem questionable that any decisions would be released in May because of the CSU commit deadline, yeah. I’m just relaying what I was told.

I don’t comment much on this forum but I don’t think it’s fair to call @JCMazwell a liar lmao. Like I mean I think he/she be lying if it they did get their admission decision earlier than the rest of us. Either way, whatever happens we STILL don’t have an exact date, Maxwell isn’t necessarily giving an exact date, and all we can do is wait just saying. It’s aggravating but it’s what we have to do

Last year there was a UC that extended into May. Can’t remember which one (not UCSD). Rare. However, in the past UCSD has released a batch very early, then held off until the end date. So two releases are theoretically possible. Not to add more fuel to the fire. Also keep in mind, students often answer the phone in admissions and don’t know what they’re talking about.

@Ohm888 yeah exactly. Don’t students mostly work in the front at admissions? I mean they’re obviously not gonna know intimate details. Waiting always sucks but not fair to attack other people for trying to help

Honestly, I think that IF they were to release after April 30 they should waive the feel for those who intend to enroll.
