UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

AHHHHHHH

Exactly, I just hope that it means they’re releasing soon!!
Ahh my refresh button is going to break lol

They released last year on a Thursday if that means anything at this point BUT fingers crossed!!

@knockemout is it still there I looked and I don’t have it

My portal is the same no changes. Either way my fingers are crossed for today or tomorrow!

My portal is the same also.

@bomnd not anymore, it was there for like 5 minutes only

It disappeared now. There was something like “Download the Housing Information Brochure” an hour ago.

I had the housing brochure link too. Hopefully decisions come out soon!

For those of you who have UCSD as your first choice, why? I was accepted by UCSB for biology and am having a difficult time deciding between the two schools. I already live in Isla Vista so the transition to UCSB would be easy but my sister lives in San Diego and the internship opportunity surrounding UCSD is incredible!

@ UCSD pls I just wanna be with my fellow nerds and study. I’m perfect for ur school, I play dnd, watch anime, and don’t have a social life

@Millie100 Really hope they come out today too. I was admitted to Sb; what’s it like living in IV? I’m nervous about how crazy I’ve heard it gets there, but love how close the housing is to campus. It also seems super crowded.

@Millie100 for me personally, I know that I will have an easier time at UCSD then at SDSU, plus it is right next to my house so commuting would be incredibly easy for me.

For me, I want to go there because their CogSci program is one of the best in the nation. But I made some dumb mistake and put Revelle as my first choice. And I heard it is really hard to change your college once you get in.

@millie100 there’s a lot of reasons for me. I’m premed and I love the research opportunities. I think it’s a unique UC. There are soooo many different avenues for research, internships, mentor ship. I like the clubs that are offered, and the environment. I don’t party, and I want an academically focused environment. I love San Diego, and I have a lot of friends who went there who have loved it. 2 of them actually got science degrees and went directly into their field with high pay. That says a lot to me. Their med school is also my target med school, so I took that into consideration. Being in that environment and around the faculty/staff is a plus.

@queen_ofthenorth The culture here is pretty unique! It is crowded but I enjoy it because it makes me feel safe when I need to walk somewhere alone at night. If you want to live somewhere quiet look to rent on 68 block and if you’re okay with loud music every night look for housing on 65 block (You’ll understand what I’m referencing once you begin looking for housing). Most parties are very inclusive and you do not need to be on a list to attend which is great for making friends. Students here study very hard but always make time to watch beach sunsets or go surfing!

Things I dislike about IV are that its very dirty. I end up stepping over trash every day. The landlords are pretty scammy and very rarely return security deposits so make sure you take a video of the entire property when you move in! Also bikers here do not follow any traffic laws and often times crash into each other or run into cars. It took me a long time to get comfortable driving here!

@GaussX I applied under Human Development Sciences with Revelle as one of my top choices! I’ve completed the lower division biology/ chemistry track so it wont impact my 2 year plan… hopefully. Good luck!

SDSU is harder than UCSD?

@okey307 I think that they both have their levels of difficulties, but for me, I know that I would have an easier time concentrating at UCSD. I have been to SDSU and its a little more chaotic on the campus.

I heard that the cs program in UCSD is extremely hard. I’m kind of worried if I really got in. lol
Is there anyone else who’s deciding between UCI and UCSD?

@kaykapowski that makes sense. hope we can get our decisions asap
