@millie100 UCSD has always been a school that I’ve dreamed of going to. In fact I’d rather go to UCSD than UCLA or Berkeley. I’ve visited the campus several times and I love how quiet and peaceful the atmosphere is. There’s also plenty of research and internship opportunities in SD making it easier to have access to those opportunities. I also like that it’s not a party school. Some people may not like that, but I need to be in an environment where I know I won’t get distracted. That’s my only concern about attending UCSB.
@sleepypolarbear Oh! I’m a D&D player too, lol!
@Millie100 I’m just praying to get into UCSD because it has been my top choice for a while. I love the campus, the staff are super nice, and I know a lot of people going to UCSD. If I get accepted, there is not doubt in my mind that I’m gonna go else where
Any psychology majors? lol
@GaussX which college would you have preferred to choose rather than Revelle? And which branch of Cognitive Science did you want to pursue if you go to UCSD? (Sorry if I asked that before)
@brebre123 I am. Also I made a thread that’s just for psych majors, across all UC campuses.
I would go to UCSD over Stanford, Berkeley, Cambridge, etc. The university is about as old as our parents (1960), and still has world renown. Step up your game, DAD.
@CAtransplant I would have preferred John Muir college probably. Because, at Revelle, IGETC doesn’t clear all the lower-division requirements. So, I might have to take more lower-division GEs if I can transfer
And I want to pursue a specialization in Neuroscience if I can :). Which branch of Cogsci did your daughter want to pursue?
Oh, how did you all rank the colleges in your application? I had:
- Muir
- Marshall
- Revelle
- Warren
- Sixth
- Roosevelt
I’m a Human Biology major.
I wonder if part of the wait has to do with them trying to fit their admitted students into their highest priority colleges…
Muir was my top as well
My daughter ranked them as:
- Muir
- Marshall
- Roosevelt
- Sixth
- Warren
- Revelle
and @GaussX she would want to pursue the Design and Interaction specialization if she were to get in and attend. She’s only completed Calculus 1 though and I know for the major, you are also supposed to have done Calc. 2 and 3 and also Linear Algebra, right? So it seems unlikely to me she’ll get in unless they decide she can take those once she’s there. She’s not a math lover but UCSD is so great for Cog Sci!
Yeah, I think they want Calc 1, Calc 2, and linear algebra. But I heard UCSD is lenient when it comes to major prep, not to mention CogSci is not impacted at all, and it had like %68 admit rate last year.
Oh it’s not impacted at all? Didn’t know that. Well we shall see
Welp hopefully all of us get in
Also we better get them Tomorrow cos -.- I’m annoyed
@CAtransplant @GaussX I’m applying for Cog Sci as well. Shooting for the Design and Interaction specialty. The only prep I’m missing is Linear Algebra. As GaussX said, it’s not impacted and had 68% acceptance last year for transfers. Average GPA admitted was 3.25 - 3.73. So the odds are pretty good if it doesn’t get significantly stricter this year (it probably won’t).
@KSHarris cool! So if they let people in without any of those math classes, how does it work, does the student have to take them right away when they start?
I am annoyed with SD right now. Wish they would just release lol
This wait is prettttyyyy rough my dudes
It is going to be a long weekend if we don’t get anything tomorrow. I skipped out on work tonight because I thought that they would release them
How lenient is UCSD with pre-reqs for impacted majors? My school doesn’t offer most of the cs classes listed on assist.
