UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

I’ve heard that UCSD is more lenient on the pre-reqs. Hopefully, I can still get in without completing the second english class. I got rejected by UCLA and UCB.

@brainbag I think that you have a good chance to be honest. I totally spaced on the “extra comments” section and didn’t add any explanation of bad grades/withdrawals etc. My GPA is hovering around the bottom 25% admitted for my major :frowning:

I think I have a lot of cool experience (being in the Marines and living all over the place overseas right after high school ) but regardless of all of the “cool” stuff I’ve done, I think there are way more deserving applicants because of the intentionality that they put into their application. I think if someone looked at my application, they’d think, “WOW, he has done some amazing things, but where is he going with it all?”. I imagine that there are many applicants that, regardless of how small they think their accomplishments to be, really connected what they’ve done in life with why they would be a great candidate for this specific major at this specific school. My PIQ’s look like they were written one hour before the deadline (which they were haha). Full of grammatical errors, BUT they really do reflect the real me. I didn’t have enough time to edit things in my mind so I just wrote straight from the heart. In hindsight though, although the message may come off as raw and unique, it also portrays a lack of planning and critical thought. Ugh.

@liddlewolfe I’m not sure that the booklet is an ‘omen’ foretelling your acceptance, but I think that you have a shot as long as your GPA is 3.0+ and you have IGETC/ at least some major prep done. ‘Subpar’ can mean many things, especially on a site like this. If you get rejected, then there’s no harm in waiting until next year. You get extra time to raise your GPA and make sure that you’re taking the right classes. And you get the opportunity to TAG! See if you can get pulled out of the waitlist and accepted to UCSD, but even if those fall through your worst case scenario really isn’t that bad and can be used to your advantage if you keep up the hard work

No update for me too:)

What does “dox” mean?

Sums it up for the rest of us too

Just found out that UCSD is going to be a DI school starting Fall 2020…kinda cool for those of us that get in. If they become D1, they’ll naturally get more notoriety, which could mean even more exposure when applying for jobs down the line.

@HeyItsNick Yeah, let’s all leave a message for future transfers going through this thread. Haha…

Future transfers: UCSD may not always be last, but it is never first lmao

Future applicants: The shaking and crying is normal.

I think at this point all the decisions have been made. They just need to be dropped. Probably some logistical things to work out? Idk, I just have anxiety

Dear Fall 2020 transfers: You may not get into UCSD, but if you post enough on College Confidential, you will be promoted to Junior Member like mwah. Take heart, and know that hard work pays off SOMEWHERE, it just might not be your dream school :frowning:

Future applicants: I have no good advice. This process is terrible and I am broken.

Dear applicants: Listening to Petit Biscuit whilst awaiting judgement day (aka admission decisions day), may lessen your chances of catastrophic heart failure

Dear future transfers… " I love lamp!"… " I love desk"…and San Diego stands for a whales…

Hi guys, I applied to UCSD last year and I remember I got the decision at night at my CCC. So probably around 9 or 10 at night.

I don’t get it ?? @Scoobybrew. Is this a movie reference ?

@HanFish the email came in at that time of night? Or did you check the portal?

@ucdochopeful2k19 I think I got an email and checked right away. I was constantly checking my portal but it wasn’t uploading at all. But, all of sudden I got the email at night and was able to check it.

For the record… San Diego has the title “Americas Finest City”… for a darn good reason. Less traffic than LA and SF… yet not great TBH. But the Beaches, surf, fish tacos, and laid back attitude far surpass anything LA or SF have to offer. All they have is traffic and Fog. Count me out…UCSD all the way!
