UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

My friend got in at a biochem Major after dropping a major prereq. It’s a case by case basis I suppose.

So assist is super dated, at least for CS. I checked their general catalog often, and it appears literally yesterday they removed the requirement to take any science classes for the cs major. Would have been nice if they told us this sooner.

The representative who came to my school said decisions will come out in the afternoon. Who knows if they will come out all at once or roll out throughout the day.

@HopefulUC1453 wait so we don’t have to take a science class? Or is it mandatory to take physics because I took chem.

@bomnd https://admissions.ucsd.edu/transfer/transfer-major-preparation.html find the cs major on that link. Science classes are no longer required.

@schoolislife14 So, decisions will come out today in the afternoon?

This afternoon? That could be 12 to some or it could be 4:59 to others.

According to the rep, yes. Also triton day is on May 11, and if they were to release later it would be a stretch for us in choosing which school we want to attend.

@HopefulUC1453 hey so I am seeing this “REQUIRED - EFFECTIVE FALL 2021:” under CS I haven’t seen this before. I don’t think I understand what that means. Does it mean its required until fall 2021? Or after fall 2021?

@Sparks123 I think that means they will start enforcing it in Fall 2021, so we should be good. Before today, the text in the “Effective Fall 2021” section was all that was listed in the major, so I think they changed it and removed the science requirement for the few years. This lines up with what an earlier poster said about assist being outdated and only requiring cs and math classes.

@Sparks123 no I’m pretty sure that means those trying to transfer fall 2021 have to take those, we are fall '19 so you’re good

My nerves are so high today and drinking two grande starbucks cold brew refills to cope isn’t helping xD

I would assume the decisions will come out today at 5 pm PST

@Returnmypie Yeah, I had no idea what I was doing. My sister took a more traditional route to college so, my parents weren’t sure about some stuff either. I got passed around to multiple counselors and none of them told me I had to take extra classes besides what’s on the IGETC. That’s what tripped me up. I also am one class short on the IGETC (Political Science) so, hopefully, they will be lenient about that as it isn’t a crucial class like an English or Math. I’ve learned a lot about being your own advocate in education and doing a lot of research though. I’m sure this experience will come in handy later down the road, haha.

@HopefulUC1453
That’s amazing news I was only missing one physics class for CS, I’m much more relaxed now

Will UCSD release all decisions once or roll call?

I applied as an International Business major but I don’t have Calc 3 (believe it or not it’s required for Business) so I doubt I’ll get in

Dang I hope they release decisions today! The 30th is on a Tuesday and it seems so late to just drop decisions next week. Hopefully it’s today I’m sick of waiting lol

Good luck everyone

Imagine if they don’t come out today LOL…I’d be absolutely REKT.

@liddlewolfe I think my over all gpa is somewhere around 3.5 but i have a few c’s that i’m bringing with me from 2012, I think they can also see 2 F’s that i received back then. Back in 2011 and 2012 i went to school but failed, I skipped class and doped classes without withdrawing so I just got F’s. I goofed up and didn’t do my academic renewal to clear some of the F’s. I hope they don’t focus too much on my past because since my return at my current school I have a 3.85. My counselor last semester also told me I was short on the unit requirements that I only had 51 and i needed 60 despite having all other requirements completed. I signed up for a bunch of classes this semester and I saw a different counselor and they told me i was over on units and that I have 69 that are transferable now. I still have no idea whats going on if i’m over or under b/c i got wait listed at UCSB with a TAG. I hope that will be able to at least appeal by trying to replace those lower grades with the better ones from this semester.
