UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Accepted! Here are my stats for next year’s transfers.

Major: Political Science/International Relations @ Warren College. Muir was my first choice. I don’t remember where I ranked Warren but I don’t think it matters too much from my major.
GPA: 3.7 from CCC
Pre-Reqs: Completed
IGETC: Completed
Applied: UCSD, UCSB, UCI(TAG), UCR, UCSC, UCB, UCLA
Accepted: UCSD, UCSB, UCI(TAG), UCR, UCSC
Rejected: UCB, UCLA
Extracurriculars: Not really anything besides working full/part time since high school… volunteered at a local hospital, played volleyball, and officer in two clubs all while in HS
Essays: I thought they were pretty good. I moved out of state right out of high school by myself just to get some life experience so I concentrated my essays mainly on that.

I am a San Diego local if the admissions officers take that into consideration.

@JCMaxwell i just got rejected from ucsd for structural and i’m debating appealing the decision. what was your gpa? are you transferring from a CC or four year uni?

UCSD-4/26 at 4pm (PST)-Accepted to International Business in Roosevelt College

College transferring from: Pepperdine (US News ranked 46 in 2019)
Entering as: junior
Major: Business Administration-applied for International Business
GPA: 3.71
Units completed: 62 units after Spring semester (GPA 3.765 after Spring)

Pre-reqs: missing the second UC’s English (I didn’t take it because I thought it doesn’t matter that much and I could catch it up later. In addition, I spent my freshman year’s summer doing internship instead of taking this course at a community college.)

Also, I took one semester of Business Calculus (includes Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 materials) but I guess UCSD requires me to take one semester of traditional Calculus but I still got accepted. It’s probably because my Business Calculus successfully transferred.)
Essay: 9/10
Other schools applied to: USC, UCB Haas, UCLA, UCSD, Emory, UCI
Accepted by: UCSD
Rejected by: UCLA, UCB, Emory, UCI
Waiting for: USC. USC I have a high chance since most classes can transfer.

Comments:

  1. I got “A” in all the business classes that I have taken in Pepperdine: Financial Accounting, Business Calculus, Business Statistics, and Organizational Behavior. I thought this would be impressive. Most GEs I got an “A” or an “A-”. But I got two “B” in two Pepperdine only classes and that’s why my GPA is not a 3.8 or higher.

  2. I was quite shocked that I got accepted because I am missing UC’s second English and I took Business Calculus instead of traditional Calculus.

  3. If I were to do this application process again, I would just apply to UCSD and more private schools since most classes can be transferred and they are more lenient on missing prereqs.

Accepted! (Muir)
Major: Structural Engineering
GPA: 3.4
prerequisites all completed

good luck everyone!

I got accepted but I was dumb and locked myself out of my portal saying that it’s now inactive :frowning: what does this mean rip me

@Jiminlovee on the first page of the portal (where there’s the big banner) there should be a financial aid tab on the top of the page that shows your provisional aid contract

@AceIsMy_HikingPuppy . Im not sure but I’ve heard its very hard to switch into computer science. But you can also try math - CS

I got for computer science!!!

@boomnd There is a major for Math and CS combined ?? This is the craziest feeling ever. I’ve always wanted to go to this school but jeez not as a Lit major :frowning:

Can we switch colleges?

@AceIsMy_HikingPuppy I have a feeling you’d have a very difficult time trying to switch into CS from Lit. Can you email your admissions counselor about your chances?

@brebre123: Q: Can I appeal the decision?
A: Note: Successful appeals are very rare. Your application has already been reviewed thoroughly by at least two readers.
To provide new and compelling academic information that was not in your original application, follow the link to submit your appeal online.

Accepted: UCLA, UCI, UCSD, UCD, UCR, UCM
Local from San Diego area
Congrats to those that got in! I’ll be attending UCLA or UCI and withdrawing my application so good luck to those on the waitlist!

@kaejae: You cannot appeal if you are admitted student, only if you have been rejected from the University.

Does anyone know if I was to call them would they be able to tell me why I didn’t get in ?

@Millie100 I’m currently in the same situation as you. I want to go into genetic counseling and I’m debating between SB and SD. I live closer to SB but I think SD will give me more opportunities. It’s a tough choice

I was rejected with a 4.0, applied as a global health major. I’m shocked and heartbroken. I have no clue what to do.

ACCEPTED!
