UCSD full ride vs UC Berkeley

I got accepted to UCSD and UC Berkeley for computer science. I have been thinking a lot and I need help. Here are my options:

UCSD has offer me a full ride to go to their college. I was admitted to the sixth college. They are rank 11 in computer science. I know many friends who are going to UCSD which mean I will see them again. Also, I know some freshman undergrad who goes to UCSD and says it is a great school. They told me about what they have been doing and it’s very social. However, I have visited the college multiple times and I feel like I know most of what happens. Also, I want to leave San Diego and see other parts of California.

If I go to UC Berkley, the tuition will be paid (from scholarships + govt aid) about 2/3. Meaning I will have work study and have a yearly debt of $6,000. That would be $24,000 when I graduate. There rank is 3 in computer science. I heard UC Berkeley is a very competitive school especially in computer science. The problem is that I would have work study to pay partial cost and I do not know if it is a good idea. If I do graduate from UC Berkeley most likely I would gain a good job in computer science and will pay the debt easily. I will be going to a senior weekend program on April 10-13 to see the school. When I go what questions should I ask?

I am torn about choosing competitive or money.

Any tips? Opinions? Anything I should consider before making the decision?

Take the full ride man

Berkeley…

You must be kidding, full ride. Berkeley is not $150K better.

I was accepted into UCLA with a full ride but I am going to a school were I will be happy. UCLA was VERY temping, i mean nothing beats free! But lets say that money wasn’t a problem, which school would you go to?

$24,000 in debt for a CS major is very doable. So this would really depend on you: going to Berkeley would mean keeping up with a job AND with your grades, therefore managing your time very well and avoiding social temptations but you’d leave your town and discover another area of the State, plus study in an amazing CS program (you were pre-admitted to your major, right? You don’t have to qualify further?); UCSD would mean staying in the well-known but being free to spend your time any way you want when you’re not studying.
