UCSD housing status change = admission?

I couldn't find the thread, but I remember not too long ago someone posting about their housing status changed from some type of unavailable status message to this:

New transfer students may fill out a Housing Waitlist application on the Undergraduate Housing Waitlist website starting June 2, 2008 at 8 a.m. The Commuter Student Services Office also offers help with searching for off campus housing options.

and they were admitted at the next release of admission decisions. My housing status was unavailable but now it gives me that message. Anyone know if this is just one case? Or has this happened to a lot of people?

I have no idea, if it holds truth. What's your major?

seems like it is a good sign for you!

I think it happened to a lot of people. I was one of the "changed," and I don't specifically remember anyone who got the new message but wasn't offered admission.

Yes, it is the indication that you get in.
I got acceptance from SD on April 2 and my status changed
one week before thier release. I believe everyone whose housing status changed got acceptance. Congratulation! you are in!

I wouldn't jump the gun, unpoko.

You are right, kevinc121. You should wait thier official announcement.
But still...I think people who get the message are in.

oh o not a good sign for me

not a good sign for me either

Aw man this sucks

i emailed them about a grade for this course that i could not update for fall until after the deadline, so hopefully they got my email.

Do you guys really think that not seeing that specific statement in the housing category, is a bad sign?

I'm an econ major.

I don't think not seeing that statement is a bad sign because decisions aren't done.

Well checked around 8 this morning and nothing, just checked and I got in.
Econ major with 3.4 gpa, NO calculus classes done....this is a shock to me. I almost feel like some of the UCs will let you in without pre reqs done so you will finish them there and take more time to graduate, giving them more of your money.

Well I guess this proves the whole theory of house status change thingermajig. Congratulations! I bet it was worth the wait.

After your recent acceptance I decided to call the admissions office to ask some questions. I asked about priority and how they release their decisions. Basically, she (a very nice lady I might add) told me that little groups of decisions are released on a continual basis. And that no one is given priority on the release date, meaning for me at least (out of state school) that I could have been notified of a decision on 3/15 or I could still be waiting until 4/30. She also said that it was a good idea to view the website once in the morning and then once again towards the end of the day. I hope that helps anybody who is still concerned.

i agree with you on that one mykris
