UCSD or UCSB (social science area)

i got into both UCSB and UCSD =)
I plan on majoring in the social science area (possible sociology/comm/philosophy?/econ minor)
I visited both schools and I liked them.
SB=more chill relaxed, friendly people
SD=cool/motivated people, fun
My friends say they picture me as more of an SD girl. (i kinda stress over work, but fun, maybe even ditzy.lol.and im kinda competive)
why did you guys pick one school over another??
and another random question: were your parents stressed about you moving away? were you ready for the change? (my parents dont think im mature enough, bc im young and all)
thanks!
=)

If your parents can’t let go now (when it’s most socially acceptable/expected), then when can they?

Anyway, I based my choice between SD, LA, USC, etc. based on department rankings. At the time, I was a CSE major, so I chose SD.

Even if a school is known for being oriented towards a stereotype, you have to face that there are > 20,000 students, so chances are you’ll meet people you’ll like.

It all boils down to the social aspect of both campuses.

While SB is renown for being a party school, SD is renown for being a socially dead school, which is complete fallacy.

Both have beaches near them and both have diverse people.

SB has hotter white women as I’ve been reading, and SD has the Triton eye thing.

It also depends on where you live and how far you want to be away from home, unless both these schools are equally as far.

I prefer UCSD for the laid back atmosphere as well as the smart kids. I mean my license plate does say: UCSD: The Smart Ones ^_^.

Then again I am biased because my major is completely different from yours, and UCSD has the best program for a Bio major. I think your majors are both as equally as good if you go to either.

I didn’t pick SB because I thought of it as a less superior school than SD, mainly because I look at rankings as well as the programs and internships available during my X amount of years in college. UCSD offered me much more than SB will ever, thus I didn’t apply to SB and UCSD was my choice.

Both schools are good, it just depends what you want out of your college life.

■■■■■ the forums for the other posts about UCSD vs. X school. Astrina and many others have excellent posts on why UCSD is a good school as well as cons.
