UCSD - personal statement not relevant to major

Hello,
I applied to all UCs this Fall, and I majorly applied to Sociocultural Anthropology except UCSD.
I applied UCSD as an Archaeological Anthropology…
Due to this difference of choice of major, I found out that one of my personal statement that I have submitted through My UC Application is not really relevant to the Archaeology but relevant to the Sociocultural Anthropology.
I am actually qualifying the major requirements of Anthropology of Archaeology… and I have pretty much high GPA 3.89
I also have more than 105 units before I transfer, and finished taking all GE classes (IGETC)

Do you think it would matter? Do you think my situation would affect of my application…?

thank you

I doubt it will matter, the personal statement is more about showcasing who you are as a person, not your intended academic pursuits. As long as your essay did that, you should be fine.

I emailed the admission center, and they said it wouldn’t affect on my application.
They said they understand that students want some other majors…!
Thanks though!

Perhaps you’ll feel the freedom that colleges actually want you to have: the freedom to explore and engage subjects previously not considered. The American university system is mostly designed to allow for that. At 17 years old, you’re not expected to go all in to becoming an engineer or physician or whatever.

I’ve heard as many as 80% of students switch majors. What does that tell you? Even about yourself?
