UCSD to UCLA or UCB

I'm a UCSD student trying to transfer to Cal or UCLA and majoring in economics. My GPA isn't that stellar right now but I can get it up to a 3.6 by the end of winter quarter, and a 3.75 by the end of the year. I've heard they look at grade trends too, which is good because my grades are only improving (or I hope so haha). I also did a summer internship with a financial PR agency and will be undertaking another financial advising internship during the school year, or working as a financial assistant.

I KNOW that UC to UC transfers are given the least priority, but how possible would it be for this to happen, and is there anything else I can do to increase my chances? And would I have a better chance of transferring to a private like NYU?

Even a 3.75 transfer student from a California Community College (given top priority) has a hard time getting into UCLA or UCB. The AVERAGE GPA of admitted transfer students into UCLA’s Economics program was 3.95 last year ([Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2010 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof10_mjr.htm)).

You have a much higher chance transferring to NYU; but who knows, crazier things have happened, so if you have the cash to apply to LA and Berk why not try…
