@darren808 If what I have been told was true, then yes. But honestly, I doubt if that’s the case. People who got off the waitlist last week are mostly CS major with a GPA ranging from 3.4X to 3.5X (at least for those who posted here). I am a Biol major with a ~3.6, finished most major classes and completed IGETC, still pending. And I haven’t heard of any biol major who got off the waitlist. I am not saying that they are definitely doing it by major, but it seems like GPA is not the only factor.

@Cyclobutadiene Hopefully that’s the case.

That’s not quite true. I am an international student majoring in CS and math with 3.45 GPA from top 5 university in any CS/engineering and I still haven’t received any response neither to my appeal letter nor to my waitlist request.
We all have to be patient. Let’s just say that I can’t continue going to To my current school without expanding too much. That means that if I don’t go to SD, I am in deep ■■■■. Trust me there are people in a way worse situation than you.

They LOVE taking their sweet time on getting ppl off the waitlist…

I feel like if you don’t make it in the next wave…then you’re not making it in unless alot of ppl in this next wave decline their offer. I feel this next batch will be the final waitlistees that will gain admission…it will be one big ass batch. Confident i will get in for sociology, but this wait is starting to get ridiculously annoying…i just need to know whether i’ve been accepted…i just want to see that congratulations email. If i see that…all will have been completely and totally worth it…

but until then…we of course…wait… smh

If anyone who reads this, and did hear back from UCSD today, please leave a comment telling us so. PLEASE

Nothing again

Omg what if the 2nd batch WAS today but we think it wasn’t because no one here got it?

I’ve been waiting anxiously as well, no reply. I wonder what’s taking so long :(

I wonder if we would get any answers by calling admissions and records again. Idk they havent given a lot of information so far:/

I asked Ms. Sun, who is an expert and she said that it would be in Mid-June :(

Major: Microbiology
GPA: 3.47
So far, no word from them.

Received an email saying that I was accepted through waitlist on June 5th at 3:28 PM, and I just wanted to re-post so you guys can see my info. P.S. My gpa on the previous post was wrong and the one here is correct
GPA: 3.28
Major: Political Science
Accepted: UCI, UCD, UCSB, SJSU, UCSD
Pending:
Rejected: UCLA, SDSU
I think that my extra curriculars, personal statement, and waitlist essay carried me

To be honest I didn’t think I would make it off the waitlist with my low gpa. Everyone saying that the gpa cutoff was 3.3-3.4 got me really discouraged. This post is dedicated to the ones who think they won’t make it with their low gpa. Don’t be put down by anyone on these threads, anything can happen and good luck to those who are still waiting!

I don’t think any decisions went out today

Ms.Sun is probably right. I sent an email to ask about my application decision. They told me that my appeal failed. and my waitlist decision is still under review. They will inform us in a week or two…So, i guess the whole waitlist thing work totally different to what we thought it is…

oooooooooooo ain’t this exciting??? NOT

@bhav007 and @CollegeDropout1:
Can you guys tell us how your financial package is from UCSD comparing to other schools you were accepted to? Is it lower than you expected?! and you think being accepted from wait-list affects FA?
I have a good FA from Irvine…and my EFC is zero, so I’m worried what they’re going to offer me if I get in…

@bolandgoo, My EFC is 17990, and it shows that I receive $4236 for UCSD. I remember for UCI, I got like $2900, and for UCSC I received $4400, and for Davis it shows $6823. However, UCD offers something called an Aggie Plan Grant to families to 80k - 120k families (which I fall under), and under this plan, the student receives %25 of tuition = another $3400 or so on top of $6800 = $10,200. This Aggie Plan doesn’t show as part of the “University Grant,” but it applies once the school year begins (Fall). I’m not sure if the waitlist ppl are offered less money, like, I have no idea. In my opinion, they don’t offer less money.

How much are you getting offered from Irvine?

@Bolandgoo My EFC is 0

UCSD Gift Aid + Work Study: $24628

UCSD Loans:
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan: $5,500
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan: $1,200

UCLA Gift Aid

Scholarships: $24,655
Loans:
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan: $6,400
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan: 200

It’s already 2 o’clock, did anyone hear back yet?
