I know this is kinda late but I wanted to know what others thought about UCSD

I thought the tour was pretty bad because I guess my tour guide sucked. They took us to the library , the singing tree, and some cultural center. My first thought of the campus was that oh wow this place is dirty. I guess because their are a lot of trees every where the buildings didn't seem to nice either. Our tour guide kept talk to themselves when they walked us place to place I thought it was unprofessional. Also they kept talking about the entertainment and parties and concerts and to myself I'm like "*** this is not a party school in fact it is opposite" and the asian that my dad is says oh you want to come Here for the parties huh? So it kinda sucks that I finally transferred and they are not impressed my ucsd. Also our tour guides never had any cool facts or history about the school. They never even mention the mascot or anything. I don't know I guess because I went to celebration week at UCI and the tour was much much better there they had cool facts like the dude that developed the rockband video game graduated from there and where the mascot came from etc. The only thing that turned my opinion around about UCSD is the village. It was so nice it reminded me of how clean UCI is. I heard here are over cool things around ucsd I guess I will have to do more exploring on my own. But hopefully I will grow to like it more when I get there.

Anyone have their own impressions of the campus. Or anything?

I want to ensure you that I have visited UCSD quite a few times before and this was the ONLY time I was not impressed by the school.

UCSD has been my dream school for some time for the academics specifically, and I won’t let a s**t presentation ruin that for me.

Transfer Day failed miserably this year. The welcome speeches were lackluster and the tours and booths were not informative. The only good part for me was going to my departments presentation (bioengineering) where one of the professors told us about the vast research opportunities I could tap into and outlined all the fun classes I get to take.

But it seemed like my department was the only one that realized that us transfer students are going there for school, NOOOOOOTTT the social life and the beach.

I had watched videos from Freshman Admit Day prior to that day and everything was far more professional and more focused on academics.

Don’t let this one event ruin your perspective of the school. UCSD is a fantastic educational institution and they made the huge mistake of marketing toward the wrong audience this year at Transfer Day.

Also, like you going to UCI’s event, I went to UCD’s event today and it made me see the flaw’s in UCSD’s event even more. UCD got you excited about learning then had booths from every department where you could walk up to whichever you want and ask questions, it was awesome.

I still love UCSD and I’m still most likely to go there, I just wish I didn’t attend Admit Day.

Yeah so true it just sucks because it did not leave a good impression on my parents but that’s alright hopefully they will visit and grow to like it like me. Maybe if I take another tour it would be better

Doesn’t seem like I missed much haha.

I passed on Transfer Admit Day and chose to fly down to UCSD for Sun God instead. Let me just say I am 100% happy with my decision to go to UCSD. I was practically a transfer student for the last 3 days and there’s something for everyone: parties/drinking, studying, etc.

^ hahaha NICE! dude Sun God was awesome other than the fact that i sat in puke. BEST part was there were people drunk off their asses on the shuttle one puked on the floor the other started a fight because the shuttle was crowded. AND Jimmy Eat World woooot :)

as for the campus and i passed on transfer admit day because i knew it wasnt going to be much, the one you wanna look out for is orientation where you get to meet other transfers and what not…hope you go to UCSD so we can take physics together! hahaha :D
