Some of the community colleges (for those that don't know) met up at Davis today for a major TOP meeting.

For those that went, what did you guys think? Personally, I had a much better time the first time I went. This is probably due in part to the gloomy weather and everything, but still I felt the anecdotes/Q & A session were sort of weak.

I ended up just walking around Davis for an hour and trying to get a feel for the campus at a personal level. It was nice, but it didn't blow me away.

After that I went on a guided tour, and our tourguide was pretty great. However, the incessant rain put a "damper" on the excursion.

Did any of you guys go? Any other thoughts guys?

Hey I went too, I kind of did what you did. My friend and I pretty much did our own thing and walked around ourselves. I met up with a few of my friends who already go there and they showed us the science lecture hall, greenhouse, and some of the other large science buildings. We also went to the silo, bookstore, and shields. All in all it was a fun day, but yes the weather did put a slight damper on our trip.

Right on. Yeah, the weather was just terrible. I only have a couple acquaintances at Davis, so I didn’t end up calling them. That’s great that you were able to get a more in-depth look at Davis with your friends.

I didn’t go, but I had a similar experience when I visited Davis back when I was in high school only instead of rain and clouds, it was the smouldering heat that definitely drove a wedge into the whole experience. Glad you guys had fun though, Davis is another one of my choices and I hope to be admitted.

I frequent at Davis and UC Davis since my boyfriend lives there. The campus started growing on me the more I went there. I love MU and bowling there. I also love the food on campus and in downtown. The campus is huge and overwhelming though; it’s the biggest UC in terms of size.

yep the size of the campus definitely keeps you in shape, walking from place to place, and the downtown area is great as well. I just like the whole atmosphere on campus and the surrounding city, it’s really starting to grow on me. Good luck to the rest of you who wish to go to Davis, I hope you get in!

thanks, I hope I get in too, haha.

did you apply there? If so, what is your major?

yep, as a psychology major!

Whoah, I applied as a Psych major too lol.

Hoping for Cal though…if not it’ll probably be Davis for me.

^emil, why not UCLA?

Good question lol.

I haven’t visited UCLA, and frankly it’s hard for me to conceptualize myself there having never been. Also, I like Davis enough that even if it were close between the 2, I would choose Davis because it’s nearer to home and I prefer the norcal lifestyle over the “beachy” socal style.

^UCLA has the best campus. although i haven’t been to all of em, it’s hard to imagine any UC having a better location, campus, weather, lifestyle than UCLA

emil, i encourage u to visit UCLA its a great campus and campus life is so alive, socal has a lot to offer and who knows u might like it beachy is not so bad, 3rd and Promenade is fun.

i understand tho the whole being closer to home thing, i cant picture life in norcal, my cousins all want to come home cuz of the weather…lol…
but if its for CAL i guess i could manage.

^don’t worry u dont have to picture urself at berkeley b/c u wont get in

I’m actually visiting UCLA in a couple weeks. I’m pretty excited about it, because I really wanted to go there back in the fall.

I didn’t even have Berkeley on my list until the last day. I just didn’t think I was eligible. But yeah, my brother and sister love UCLA. They’ve visited, but don’t attend yet.

I definitely want to check it out, and I’m always open-minded.

lakerforever24 i thought i wasnt worth anymore of ur precious time.

■■■■■

I’ve yet to see Davis even though the school is my top choice, mainly for its proximity to Sacramento and how good their Poli Sci program is. Upon their letter of acceptance/denial will I make a venture out their and check out UCD and UCSC.

I absolutely hated UCSC, but maybe your experience will be different bme2684.

I really do like Davis. Yesterday was sort of bleak though.

I know it will be different than what I am used to being from SoCal and used to the more faced pace scene. Its going to take some careful consideration to decide if that would be the right move for me or not. The only downfalls I have heard about Davis so far, is there is not a whole lot to do outside of the campus and the weather kind of sucks.

The weather doesn’t kind of suck, it is horrible. 105 degrees in the summers and near freezing in the winters. The weather is hell, which is fitting for our government’s center.
