3.3-3.4 Economics

I have 2.97 after winter. But bumping it up to over 3.0 this spring!
So don’t lose hope for having a low GPA!

We have the same major dramfor.

My gpa is 3.2 though. Are you going to SIR to UCSD?

@gamer:

I think Im going to. Are you?

If I get accepted, maybe.

I still don’t know. Never visited the campus. I will visit the campus if I get accepted though.

I’m visiting the campus tomorrow! I’m glad its not GPA-based because I got a 3.28 for Neuroscience & Physiology. =X I’m staying positive and know that we all will get in! =D

I am hoping everyone will get in!
I mean, seriously, look at my gpa.

@dreamfor do you have different condition of admission? Mine actually says i need to maintain over 3.0 gpa overall. And im pretty sure i’m going to get a D in my only class, so i don’t know if they’ll rescind me or not. They just said i’m SUBJECT TO cancellation of admission if i don’t meet the provision. Dammit.

Ahh good job @dreamfor! At least now we know they aren’t just admitted people off the wait list by GPA ranking!

I wonder what factors they are considering…
People who got accepted - are you guys international/out-of-state applicants?

Anyone comfortable enough to post up their waitlist statements?

@Farcen I saw my friend’s waitlist statement before he submitted it and he got accepted. Honestly, his statement wasn’t too great at all…so it only makes me wonder what other factors they considered

@Farcen - Are you still waitlisted?

@jay86442 yeah I’m still waitlisted. Well, here’s my waitlist statement since I’m the one asking people to post theirs. Haha, it’s not the greatest, I rushed it and 200 words is so little .-. but here:

I view UC San Diego as breeding grounds for great ideas and prestigious innovations. To have the opportunity to study under professors working at the frontiers of my field at a top-tier university such as UC San Diego has always been a dream of mine. The demanding and rigorous curricula offered, I feel, will help season my mind with knowledge and give me the necessary tools toward self-development. With the motivation and passion from peers given in the surrounding environment, I will be able to extract relevant lessons to build my own character and in turn contribute to the altruistic atmosphere.

UC San Diego is not just a university or a place to get a degree; UC San Diego to me is an institution for learning; an environment which will allow me to further in my thirst for knowledge and also more importantly, a place I feel I am able to confide in. Majority of my life, I have always been a nervous wreck due to social anxiety. I would tremble at occasions that required any bit of social interaction. Yet, with a short tour around campus, UC San Diego was the first place I felt like I belonged somewhere.

@Farcen A few other econ majors with lower gpa than yours already got in; and your waitlist statement isn’t too bad either. I guess it’s time to give up trying to find out how they accept people -___-

UCSD, please accept everyone off the waitlist!

@jay86442 Haha, thanks. I hope we all get in!

@cdelta: I actually have the same conditions,I think. 3.0 gpa by end of spring. I am going to have 3.0 by end of spring. I called the admissions to check about that and the person I talked to told me it will be automatic rescind if you dont meet 3.0. I think you should call admissions IMMEDIATELY to tell them your situation. What is your current gpa? I need to get one B and one A in order to get the 3.0, so it’s not that bad for me. I just to need to ace the finals which I am very confident. You should def. give admissions a call. It’s not very hard to talk to them. It took me like 2 minutes.

@kitty: Thank you Thank you! I hope my GPA can bring some hope to low GPAs. Hoping for everyone to get in!

I just submitted my SIR and $100 deposit.
Muir College, here I come!

I got in but I don’t know what factors they have considered. It is because I don’t have any ECs.
On my waitlist statement, I just wrote like “UCSD is foremost universities in the nation and you would have offered me an admission if you saw how I am doing in spring 13, blah blah blah…” Also my statement was a bit more than 100 words.
by the time I appled, my GPA was 3.25
After fall update, it was 3.34
Now (after spring), it is 3.53

@zooloo whats your major?
