That's not too bad. If I go to UCSD, I have to take 6 engineering lower div prereqs since they're not offered at any CC in my area. And this is my 3rd year in CC, I don't want to be lower divsion any more. But I'll probably wait and let financial aid dictate where I go.

yea UCSD has a couple of things which turn me off:

1) My first choice is Muir and I hear I have to do extra writing courses...screw that...I want to focus on Engineering courses.

2) Foreign language....screw this as well...I already know how to speak three languages. Muir will have me taking 2 years of foreign language. UCLA Engineering GE is pretty relaxed.

3) Lack of transfer housing. UCLA guarantees me one year transfer housing. UCSD = NOPE, you are are on your own.

4) UCLA's EE program is designed pretty well...if I go to UCSD I have to take courses like Intro to EE I, II, and Data Structures...UCLA I would only have to take one or two courses which were not offered in CC.

5) UCSD is in a boring location and from what I hear has a boring campus, and that bringing a car is essential. UCLA is in a urban area with a mass transist system. This isn't a big issue....

6) UCLA EE program is ranked 13th, UCSD is ranked 16th. UCLA is ranked higher in the overall category as well. Reputation wise UCLA still is better than UCSD.

Downsides

1) I like quiet areas so UCSD wins.

2) If there is a Al Quaeda nuclear attack it is more likely to happen in LA.....lol

Thus, I will be going to UCLA and not UCSD.

"2) Foreign language....screw this as well...I already know how to speak three languages. Muir will have me taking 2 years of foreign language. UCLA Engineering GE is pretty relaxed."

I like this. Even though UCLA won't take IGETC, I can still use my IGETC courses to satisfy their GEs. It looks like the only GE I will need us Engineering Ethics.

ee_stu: do you know of a list of UCLA GE classes which correspond to CC classes...I have taken some CC GE courses but don't know if any of them satisfy any of the GEs at UCLA.

Scroll down to "Admission as a Junior Transfer". It seems as though they will accept IGETC courses as equivalents, or at least that was the tone I perceived.

The actual GE course list for UCLA is here:

But most courses can't be cross referenced on assist.org.

It's good to have a talk with some homeless men and women on the bus lol

yea already saw those...was hoping for the cross referenced thing...it would suck if all the GE classes I took turned out to be worthless

I got into UCSD.... wow... what a long wait. = ="
