I’m choosing between these schools. Which one has a better program for CogSci? Better Professors? Food? I know one is small and one is big, one is cold and one is hot but I don’t particularly care about those things. I’m more concerned about academics. Also both are touted as being pretty challenging. I’m pretty smack dab in the middle of both and im worried they will be too challenging for me. I also got into U of I Champaign…which is an easier school but doesn’t have my major. If I went there I would do CogSci in graduate school. What do you think of this path? Champaign is also much cheaper for me.
URochester, as a smaller, private school, may offer you a more personal feel than your other choices. This can extend from academics to dining options. You should get enough support here to keep the academics from being overwhelming.
UIUC actually reports higher SAT scores than UCSD and should be at least as academically challenging.
It’s important to study what you find rewarding as an undergraduate, but this is dependent more on courses than major. Cognitive science is often interdisciplinary, even where a major is avaliable. Compare the academic offerings at your schools with this in mind.
