UCSD vs UCLA Neuro/Cog Neuro

Hey everyone!

I was accepted into UCLA for Neuroscience and UCSD for Cognitive Science (Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience), and between the two schools, I’m not sure which has a better program. I know both schools are very good for neuroscience, and my major at UCSD is capped, but which school has better classes, more research opportunities, better programs, etc? And of course, how do other aspects of each college play into the overall college experience there? I personally want to use my major to go into an MSTP after undergrad college (get an MD and PhD); which school is better for somebody who wants to go down that path?

I’d love to hear from some current students/alums of the schools/majors for insight! Thanks!

Your major at UCSD is not capped. I would start by comparing the courses you have to take for your major at both schools and see which one would lead to you fulfilling requirements for MSTP more.

Oh really? I must have gotten it mixed up with another major then. Thanks for the advice!

Neurobiology is capped, but not Cog Neurobiology

Yeah, when I was applying Neurobiology was my alt so I probably got confused.
