This is for a non-STEM major (being vague here).
What are some of the pros and cons of each campus. I’ve heard the stereotypes – UC Socially Dead, UCI is commuter college, UCSB parties all the time. But what are some real differences between the campuses? How does someone distinguish between them? What are some of the pros and cons for each of them?
79% of frosh at UCI live in the dorms, so it is mostly not commuters. However, it does have somewhat more commuters than UCSD (92% frosh in the dorms) or UCSB (94% frosh in the dorms).
Let me amend that then – suitcase school for UCI.
flush the preconceived notions from your head and visit each campus. Spend a half day on each campus, take the tour, grab a bite to eat and talk to existing students. Seriously. one will feel more like home - and that’s where you should go.

My D has toured UCSD and UCI, and we’ve self toured UCSB. She still doesn’t have a strong impression of them. She liked SDSU’s Explore day a lot. I’m hoping the UC versions are as good.
She might like UCSB. It is more similar to SDSU.
