The people who get approved admission who are on the waitlisted only have 3 business days to respond. THATS A PLUS FOR US!! some people might get accepted, then forget to accept and then it gets passed to us!

Do you know if they will let you guys know maybe before June? I’m sure there are a ton of people on the waitlist and they can’t admit everyone all at once right?

@Acoustickitty123 That would be awesome. It would certainly save me money ($100 SIR to UCI that I would cancel if I get accepted to UCSD).

From what hrosent1 said, it seems like I can SIR to another school and cancel it if I get accepted into UCSD. Is that true? I am on the waitlist also and I want to go to UCSD if possible, but i don’t want to take the risk of not SIRing to another school just so I might have a chance of attending UCSD.

Yeah, you can always withdraw from the UC you SIR at but you won’t get your 100 back.

Do I even really want to go to UCSD? The academic LEAP from CCC to UCSD might be too much. I, after all, don’t study very much at all. I’m usually a great note-taking lecture based info type of guy… plus if i go to UCD or UCI over UCSD I might be able to do their honors program. THATS IF I COULD EVEN DECIDE BETWEEN UCD AND UCI

I personally would not wait for UCSD, but then again, I didn’t really like UCSD to begin with. Lol.

Here’s what it is. If you really really really wanted to get into UCSD or any school that you got waitlisted to, don’t even submit a SIR. Wait for UCSD waitlist and if they don’t accept you take another year at Community College. Especially if you are a 1-year transfer or even a 2-year transfer. I was at my Community college for 3 years. SO just think about all your options. Even if you don’t get accepted there’s the chance that you can Appeal if there’s some new information that they don’t know about you.

I may or may not use the waitlist option—although my focus right now is writing up the UCB appeal letter, since I was flat-out denied there. I have UCD and UCSC as options—UCSC was my second choice, so I don’t mind going there.

I’m just really hoping they don’t let us know between mid June or something. HOPEFULLY like from now until the end of may or something.

@talll that’s what I’m doing. All or nothing ucsd!

Hola guys! So, I was waitlisted for UCSD last year and I wanted to share my waitlist experience.

First of all, I’m pretty sure they accepted everyone off of the waitlist last year even though I was worried they wouldn’t accept anyone or only the very best students. Second of all, I didn’t find out I was accepted off of the waitlist until the first week of June. Once I was notified of my acceptance I had a week to SIR. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be accepted off of the waitlist to UCSD, so I SIRed to Davis before the original SIR deadline just to be safe. There was some confusion about whether SIRing to another school would affect who was accepted off of the waitlist last year – but it obviously didn’t affect me and everyone who I spoke to at UCSD encouraged me to SIR to another school in case something didn’t work out with the UCSD waitlist. Sending in my SIR to Davis wasn’t that big of a deal. When I decided to go to UCSD, I just cancelled my SIR to Davis and submited a new one to UCSD. Lost $100, but otherwise no big deal.

Oh, and another thing, a lot of people talk about what a big change UCSD is going to be academically from a CC – it is not that different to me. In fact, I actually know a lot of students who have better grades here than they did at their CC’s or who maintained their 4.0s.

@amsstory

Thanks a lot of your information. It was all really helpful. I feel a bit better being waitlisted now :>

@amsstory, if you don’t mind me asking, what was your major and GPA?

Also, how might you know that they accepted EVERYONE off the waitlist? Not to be a debbie downer or anything, but that just seems to be quite astounding…

Bump 10 char

Don’t know if you guys saw it already, but they rejected alllllll freshman on the waitlist this year. Hopefully that doesn’t happen to us!

****k… where’d you find this out?

You had to log into the MyApplication account to see it (for the freshman applicants). I had one student and one parent confirming this.

Here is where the freshman were discussing it.
