so guys, what’s the ‘screening’ like in UCSD when getting into comp sci bioinformatics? i totally don’t have any idea… i got into ucsd comp sci and just wondering what it’s gonna be like… i think im gonna double post it on the engy forums

I'm not sure how the screening process works, but I had a friend that applied for Bioinformatics (Comp Sci) and basically what he did was he took a bunch of GE's and I think some pre-reqs for the bioinformatics major? and he just applied for bioinformatics at the end of his first year and got in...that's it i think...my other friend did the same for bioinformatics (bio-chem?)...something like that...hope this helps

thanks, i hope its a good investment of time cause seriously i don't know i think bioinformatics is more challenging than computer science

bioinformatics is WAYYYY more challenging than just comp sci...but there are different focuses for bioinformatics i think...but i think bioinformatics majors are insane just because of the challenging course load...so props and good luck to you

my brain is only one sided :( it only likes science/math, but i hope i can manage through it :)

but perhaps the powers of coffee and friends will help along the way ^_^
