UDel Honors vs Villanova

Delaware: Honors, possibly more attention
Less money
more parties?

Villanova: Way more expensive.
Better education? idk
less parties?

both have good sports and both locations seem equal. I realize a lot of people do these comparison threads but i'd really love some insight from anyone else

I just want to add that I feel like most ppl hear the name villanova and say that theres no question between these two schools but i’m not sure. I’m trying to think past college and into getting a job and I know that if i perform well I’ll be able to find one but do you think the name helps?

if money isn’t a concern…go to villanova

name is everything when you graduate

although they are similar academically (depending on major), villanova is nationally recognized and delaware just isn’t

good luck

My son had to make this exact decision last year. Yeah, Villanova has a great name, but at twice the price? What you study and what you get involved in while you are at school (ie; internships) has just as much of an impact on the job you will attain after graduation as the school you went to. Villanova will sadle you and/or your parents with a ton of loans and financial sacrefices. Is Udel giving you any merit $? Is Villanova? Remember you have to reapply every year for money from Villanova. I know quite a few kids who are there or graduated - none got any money after their first year.

I’m not knocking Villanova - it’s a phenomenal school and I wish we could have afforded to send our son there. However, he has thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of the honor’s classes and appreciates the extra attention to his academic needs that the honor’s program offers. His only complaint about Udel is the dorms - and the food.

It’s a really hard decision. I can tell you this, with nearly 3 times the students at Udel, there are now 3 times more alum. That’s 3 times more the connections upon graduation!

Best of luck in your decision.

I respectfully disagree that name is everything with regard to undergrad - it probably depends. I am going through a similar decision and I would never pay full fare at Villanova - and my parents are able to. I have two friends with experiences with U Del Honors…one is a a phd now and a prof at one of the top colleges in the country, 2nd is at Duke for grad school right now. I am seriously considering U Del Honors as an option against my other choices.

kk thanks for everyones insight . just an update im pretty sure im going to do delaware honors. I agree spicegurl, the cost of villanova is just too high even though my parents said we could work it out. It’s just not worth it in my opinion, for me. Maybe if i wanted to study business, but i don’t.
