I just retook the test yesterday, October 1st Hopefully my reading score will improve...

Class rank: 99%, so I'm guessing I'm in the top 1%? :x Cuz my GPA is 3.6, and weighted is 6.2...

My preferred term of entry to UF: Summer B 2012

My intended major: Pre-Pharmacy (Freshman Only)

English is NOT the primary language in my home. Also, am I considered a first-generation student or something? My parents came from Taiwan, and I was born in the US...but my mom attended FIU for graduate school. o.o

I've heard the essay is UBER important. My topic will be on badminton! :D

My friends say to list every extracurricular I've ever done...and leadership roles are super important! They think I'm practically guaranteed admission...but I've heard it's like a lottery for UF T__T

Bump! Anyone?

Your ECs look good, and your SATs and GPA are at UF level (though it will be better raise your reading)-what would really get you in is the essay (I know, I’m from Florida too!). You might also want to try contacting a coach if you want to play sports, as it could definitely help.

The essay is your chance to set yourself apart from the many other applicants. Nail it, and you should have a very good chance!

Oh, also…my final grades for freshman and sophomore year were All A’s and 1 or 2 B’s, but my final grades for junior year were 2 C’s, 3 B’s, and 3 A’s… :frowning: I was so unmotivated that year.

Bump! Any more thoughts?

Do you happen to know your UF recalculated GPA?

Your strength of schedule, extracurriculars, and volunteer services look very good. Bring that SAT up juust a tad, and I think you stand a very good chance.

Yes! I calculated it to be 4.29…another two people calculated it to be about 4.3 as well  Which I hear is in good range :3

I’m confused for the “awards” section of the application, however…what can I put there? Varsity sport awards? FCAT certificates(■■■■■, but can I?)? I’m not really sure…I don’t have any AP Scholar Awards or anything as prestigious like that…

Good, very good! The middle 50% for the 2011 admits had a recalculated GPA range of 4.1-4.4, so that bodes well for you.

I did put down varsity sports awards. I don’t really know about FCAT certificates though, lol (I’d never actually heard of them o.O). Do you have anything from local/school essay, math, etc. competitions?

FCAT certificates are like little papers saying “you did great!” on the Florida Comprehension Assessment Test…a standardized test lol. I don’t think it’s that impressive though…

And I’ve got nothing from local essay or math competitions :</p>

Weird, I don’t remember getting any of those and I’ve lived in Florida almost my whole life getting 4’s and 5’s, lol.

At the least, you can put down academic honor rolls, school/class awards, etc.

It’s probably something my school or district does then…I see an electronic signature of the superintendent, and a handwritten signature from principal. It says I am “hereby designated a Rising Sunshine State Scholar”…sounds kind of impressive lmao. I guess I can put that for awards…
