Hey, I go to the University of Florida and unfortunately I am going to have to drop 2 classes (Chemistry, don't ask...) because I am doing very poorly in them. I was wondering what happens to my Bright Futures and if I would have to pay that money back?

Anybody please?

My S went to UF several years ago. He dropped a course one semester that brought him down to 10 credits and nothing happened to his Bright Futures scholarship. He didn’t have to pay anything back. I don’t know whether any procedures have changed since 2008 so you might want to check with the registrar’s office to be sure.

here is a link to the bright futures web site

[Bright Futures Scholarships](http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/SSFAD/bf/)

according to this you now have to refund money for any dropped bright futures courses

As a general rule it is always a good idea to check with your FA department about the impact of dropping classes. This applies to federal funds as well as state funds. I know Parts of federal aid have to be repaid under certain situations. Also dropping below full time and/or not successfully completing a certain amount of classes attempted can leed to being ineligible for financial aid.
