@melissa96, thank you for the clarification. I was having trouble reconciling the idea of capping DE classes at 45 since many high school students earn their AA via DE before stepping foot on the UF campus.
Hi there! So just do I understand… none of my dual enrollment classes get extra weight in my uf gpa? So I earned a 4.0 in college algebra. How do I report that class? Thank you!
@Melissa96 Coukd you please answer my question above? I earned a 4.0 in college algebra at a Community College. How would that be reported for the UF gpa? Is it considered a core academic class?
@funfit, yes, you will get the extra weight for the DE classes which will increase your GPA for UF admissions purposes. You report the DE class just like any other class, by using the course number (prefix-course number-extension). My daughter filled out her own SSAR so I can’t say for sure exactly how it is done.
@FUNFIT are you filling out a SSAR?
@GatorBand Thank you!!! Hooray… I hope that’s true. I wonder if I can use my Sociology or criminology class too? Not sure if that is core academic or treated like an AP elective. WAiting to hear from @Melissa96 Thank you so much?
@funfit, every class you take in high school and via Dual Enrollment goes on the SSAR. You do not pick and choose. Every class.
@Melissa96 Hi! Not yet but I like to be prepared so I’m doing it on a spreadsheet. I’m currently a Junior. This will help me see what classes I would like to take next year ?
@funfit - okay, yes. Sorry it isn’t normally the time of the year when SSAR questions are asked. Dual Enrollment gets the same weighting as AP/IB/AICE in the UF calculated high school GPA.
@Gator88NE, did I read the stats right that 61% of the admitted applicants are female? That seems a bit skewed based on past classes and the overall gender ratio of the university (54% female 46% male). Maybe admissions just expects a lower enrollment rate for the ladies?
@GatorBand That’s what it looks like (in 2018). Females make up a larger portion of the total applicant pool (57%), and historically, they get accepted at a slightly better rate (say 2% or better ). That lead to the 60/40 enrollment ratio. That is a few points higher than typical.
I’m sure UF would prefer not to be at 60%, but closer to the 54-56%. Once you get over 60%, it can start impacting recruiting. However, UF can’t consider sex (or race) in admissions.
@Gator88NE so when they publish the GPA and SAT are they not counting the IA and the PACE kids as part of those numbers? for the middle 50%?
I don’t have any special insight, but I believe IA and PaCE students are not counted. It’s only first-time student/Freshman who enroll in the Fall (or Summer B, then Fall). Fall enrolled students are used in some federal level metrics, and in the common data set.
IA students don’t enroll/start until Spring. PaCE students count under UF Online and not UF “Main Campus”.
@Gator88NE so assuming thats the case then Pace ranges are for the most part below the 4.45 mid range and lower as well as the SAT ranges…
