UF Machen Opportunity Scholarship 2019

I saw this scholarship on the UF page couple months ago and I wanted to know how you apply or are you just already eligible. My family make like 26K yearly and this scholarship would really help. Right now I received full financial aid, 75% bright futures, 3k from UF undergrad grant which total to about 14K. But my cost of attendance is an estimate of 28K including the summer 2020. Is summer term necessary? If not then I won’t do it since bright futures wont pay for it and would take of 7K. So about 21K for the first year and 14K in grants. Has anyone received any emails or information from this scholarship please let me know and how would I get it?

Contact the Office of Student Financial Affairs if you have any questions or haven’t received the form.

@Akeeb4316 Summer is not required, unless you were admitted for Summer B rather than fo Fall. Otherwise the 9 hour summer requirement of the State of Florida could likely be completed in your home town.
Also, the CoA is a bit inflated and it will likely not cost that much. The $21,210 CoA listed on ufl.edu includes $3760 for clothing, transportation, personal, cell phone and computer that is not necessary. Besides transportation, you are already paying for those things. So, you are down to $17,450 in actual costs.

@fl1234 I got admitted for Summer B, do I have to attend summer every year or just this upcoming summer term for 2019?

@Akeeb4316 Just this first summer.

@Akeeb4316 students do not take 9 credits in summer B so you’d have to work with our advisor to get your 9 summer requirement met.

@Melissa96 what do you mean by students don’t take 9 credits in summer B. How many credits do I take this upcoming summer B term? And why won’t I get 9 credits? And what is the summer requirement?

BF is now available for summers. Make sure you ask as you may need to file the 2018-19 FAFSA to get funds for Summer 19.

@Akeeb4316 summer B is a fast paced 6 weeks. Full time enrollment is 6 credits. Most students do not go over that.
