I am a highschool student who has been accepted to UF; however, I am wondering how being a pre med is at this school. I am going to be entering UF with my AA degree already; therefore, by credits I am going to be a junior. Do they have pre med advising? How easy is it to get research and things of that nature? Also on a scale of 1 to 10 can you please describe the rigor of this college, I am a little scared that college will be to hard for some reason. So basically what Im asking if someone can fill me in entirely on being a pre med at this school so I can see if this university is right for me.
please anyone with any info
I will be very honest with you- med schools typically do not like to see community college courses in math, chemistry, physics and biology. They really do prefer to see university level course work. I know the course numbers may be the same- but the rigor is simply lacking at most community colleges or state colleges so you really should repeat those courses with their respective labs to make yourself more competitive. Have you looked at the UF web site? There are many sources of help and information but you have to look for it and educate yourself about all UF has to offer. Here is a start: https://www.advising.ufl.edu/pre-health/
Thank you, I am aware of that which is why I didn’t take those courses at the community college level. I took courses like geology, English, and the maths. I’m going to be taking the hard sciences like bio, physics, and Chem at university
Sounds great!
