UF, USF, FSU --- Help!

Best Business school: University of Florida, University of South Florida, Florida State University?

Hey. Im from NY, Looking to be a Transfer student in the any of those universities. Currently studying Business Adm - Marketing… Wanting to get a sense of real-college life… Which is a good business school & party/college spirit?

Help!! Thanks!!

Well, I would cross USF off the lost immediately. It’s a commuter school and a lackluster one at that. I personally love the UF campus and atmosphere. There is so much for anyone!! Any club, sport, party, frat, and sorority you can think of! The campus is older but in a really nice refined southern way. Amazing sports programs and on gameday, the whole town turns into a mass of gator nation!! Plus UF is the highest regarded school academically out of all those you listed. But it’s also the hardest to get into. FSU has a pretty good business program too actually, but I find the campus rather gross and grimy(IMO). But they also have the parties and sports just as much as UF. Overall FSU academically really isn’t the same Caliber as UF, ranking wise as well as public perspective. Personally, GATOR NATION

The flagships are FSU and UF. Programmatic excellence varies by program at these schools. FSU is widely regarded by sentient humans as being far better than UF. ;)

USF is being looked past. It is hardly a commuter school now with requiring all freshmen to live on campus. There are plenty of ways to get involved. The Business School is one of the best. Yes UF and FSU are better academically but when it comes to the Business School USF is one to highly consider

If by sentient you mean STD breading, low achieving, UF rejects then yes, I completely agree

Learn this at UF?

^coming from “Parent2noles” ■■■■■

Yes, I am an actual FSU graduate. :)

It shows…

As a contributing Florida State alumnus I am proud of my alma mater and the professional, accomplished faculty that work there. I care so much I invest in them and the university.

FSU is worthy of much respect.

typical gator dbag. completely self conscious and always only worries about getting one up on other schools.

UF is the best school for business out of the 3 and also the biggest party school of the three so i think if you get into UF its a no brainer…but FSU is also a great school

Both FSU and UF have [AACSB accreditation for accounting and business.](Search Accredited Schools | AACSB)

I think FSU’s CoB beats UF’s CoB, which has a gross and grimy campus (IMO). ;)

USF is AACSB accredited for both accounting and business.

I’m having the same problem deciding, minus the business major.

PS: parent2noles, I know you love your alma mater, but there’s no need to bash UF. It’s consistently ranked in the top 50 schools in the nation, public and private. I’m neutral toward both schools, if the subject of bias does come up by the way :)

I don’t think I’ve bashed UF. Indeed, I have several family members who graduated from UF.

What I do is ensure UF is viewed, vis a vis Florida State, in the proper perspective. Ever heard of the phrase “lies, damn lies and statistics”? That sums up the various rankings for probably every university except an elite very few (e.g. HYPS).

For example, UF is rewarded for hosting IFAS, the state agricultural service. Such inflates the per-student funding, making UF look better than it is. This amplification, as it were, is echoed in a sympathetic UF-grad dominated Florida press, since UF has perhaps one of the few journalism schools in Florida.

I hope this brief explanation helps.

OK then, I guess I just thought calling UF’s campus grimy was a little much, since some parts of FSU resemble mild versions of city ghettos (kidding but not). The truth of the matter is that both schools are phenomenal and we are lucky to have them here in Florida, which is why this decision is exceptionally difficult for me to make.

Fair point, but sometimes I post tongue-in-cheek remarks which unfortunately don’t always communicate well in text posts. Feel free to challenge such remarks as you wish. As I recall, I was responding to another poster’s remarks which I found frankly ridiculous, seeing how I was enrolled at Florida State for some six years and have other extensive experience with the school.

Many times such posts come from our close rivals in Gainesville. Generally you can tell the ■■■■■ posts (which I responded to as described) from genuine posts seeking information.

dont bash USF while only giving credit to FSU…both of them have great qualtites…people always compare schools in general as to which is better but it depends on what you want to do. if you want to go into medical USF hands down has a program that competes with UFs and is the second biggest research university in the state. FSU is located in tally a more party place if thats what you might want to look for. FSU campus is nice but not amazing like everyone says…it might be nicer than usf and uf, but thats cause i dont think ufs campus is nice and is way overhyped. however if you havent been to usf lately they have done so much dramtic changes to improve campus quality, spent millions on renovations, dorms, new science buildings, buildings in general, and landscape dedicated whole summer improving many, many aspects. Before you judge you should visit both and really take into account what you want cause if you want to study medical…hands down usf fsu medical program is a joke…business i havent heard one pulling away
