UF vs UM premed

Putting aside cost, which school has better premed opportunities/academics? I’m hoping to get into a top school (Stanford, Yale, etc) for medical school. I understand its the individual that makes the outcome but I was wondering which school you guys think has the strongest premed program. Also, I got into the honors colleges for both schools if that helps.

A premed CANNOT put costs aside. It’s a primary consideration since you should take as little debt as possible for undergrad since debt is unavoidable for med school.

There is no ‘premed program’. You just take the same classes as others who major in physics, psychology , etc. What matters is quality of premed advising, contacts at the led school, support (especially tutoring - I know your stats make you think you won’t need a tutor but it’s not hs anymore and orgo is lethal. You want to attend a college where you’ll be able to achieve A’s even if the class average is 55.)

There is no top school for medical school. The undergraduate premed program pretty much required you to rank in the top 20% for all classes you take, as well as get straight A’s in your chosen major. 3/4kids don’t make it. Among these who are left, only 50% get into led school. At that level, ALL med schools are good. All students are excellent and the content is the same.

Hi! Thanks for responding! In my case, money is not an issue for me because I received full tuition scholarships from both schools. I was wondering if you knew how the premed program in both schools were comparatively and if one school was better in terms of advising, support, etc.

Hello!
Both schools are very well known around the nation; UF is slightly above Miami according to the US News ranking for both undergraduate and Medical school (research). Honestly, since they are both very close in rankings (by only a few spots), I would pick the school where you feel most at home. Good Luck and Congratulations!

(by the way, if you are thinking about ophthalmology, UM runs the #1 center for ophthalmic care, research, and education in the nation.)
