UF's plan is to broaden its presence around the world

[quote]
UF President Bernie Machen and Provost Joe Glover outlined a strategic vision last week to the UF Board of Trustees that included plans to expand the university's education and research presence. Rather than increasing undergraduate enrollment in Gainesville, the plan envisions using new technology and partnerships to educate students throughout the state and the world.

I think this is a bad idea.

Would these online degrees be seen the same as an actual UF degree. If so, this is going to trivialize a UF degree, equating to the same level as the University of Phoenix.

Glad I’m getting out of this place in a year. I don’t think I’ve heard any of the “plans” from this administration that have made me happy. Lower educational standards, making me pay fees for buildings I would never see, or even better for services I’m not eligible to use.

Ryan,

I understand your concern but I don’t share it. The best universities in the country offer distance learning programs and avoid a tarnished image because they maintain relatively the same admission standards for their on- and off-campus programs.

I think this is a great opportunity for UF to generate more revenue and expand throughout the state.

UF has one of the top 2 online MBA programs in the world already. i dont think UA is anywhere up there.

my first thought from reading the quote makes me think they’re going to post lectures online a publicly like many top tier schools do.

(undergraduate studies)
No quite true, for the online business major students only need a A.A. degree from a FCC and a 2.5 in 7 preprofessional courses where as the on campus you need a A.A. degree from a FCC with a 3.7 in 7 preprof or 4.0 in 4 preprof. But other than that, I believe the online sports program might be the same as the on campus, not sure though?

^^^Really? I took this whole thing as UF’s plot to overthrow authority and take over the world.

Everyone doesn’t want to go to UF so they won’t be taking over the world. But yes those facts are true you can check them out on UF’s College of Business & College of Health and Human Perfomance websites.
