For AM one should have skills in math (accounting, statistics), investment, economics, business administration. Most Ivy's and alike, which are considered target schools, provide only programs in economics. But there are other universities that provide finance programs which also should (as i understand) prepare for money management. Rankings of these schools also vary.

So, what majors are looking for asset management firms? Finance? Economics? Business Administration?

Mostly finance and economics majors. There are going to be quite a few accounting majors as well, especially at top programs, as well as some top engineering students. Also, if you’re looking for a good ranking of finance programs, I’d go with US News.

For AM, a minor in accounting would probably be the most helpful. Top financial firms do place value on accounting electives, so you might as well make a minor out of it. You might actually learn some useful things in the process.

If you are thinking along the lines of getting top grades in PE classes so you can transfer to a good college, then I doubt you are a likely candidate for an asset management position.
