UGA Dance Major

I will be auditioning for the UGA BFA in dance in a few weeks, but I can’t find a lot of information on the program and audition process.
Could anyone share their experiences with the program or briefly explain their audition experience?
Thanks!

Although it’s too late for you and you could probably post your own experience now, I thought I’d post it for future students. My daughter auditioned. The dance department was very small but organized. There were only 9 people on my daughter’s audition date and from what I could tell there were a total of 2 dates. However, the 9 girls were from ALL over the country. I believe Georgia is known as a good academic school so that may be a draw for students who want both dance and academics. The Honors dorm was like across a yard from the dance building and there was a dining hall right across the street.

The audition day lasted from 9:45-2:00.
“Auditions will include participation in a full technique class and a solo performance. The technique class
will include a ballet barre, center modern, and jazz combination. The solo may or may not be choreographed by the auditioning dancer and should be from one to two minutes in length. Please bring any music you may be using for your piece on a CD or iPod.”
There was a brief Q&A after the techniques class, a showing in their nice in house theater by the current students, a light lunch provided and then there was a 2 minute solo done by each dancer at which time the faculty did a 5 minute interview as well. Although there were tons of ballet pictures up, it seems like the focus is going away from ballet and the aerial program and modern dominate. The previous ballet ensemble faculty is either on leave or has left. There is no longer a ballet ensemble but there is one dedicated ballet faculty. There is also no A.B. degree as posted on the site. It is only BFA. My daughter received her acceptance in a little over 2 weeks by mail.
