UGGS - are they worth it?

Mmmmkay so I'm going skiing next week and going to school in Boston come fall. Coming from Texas, I will need some appropriate footwear. Are uggs worth the 200 or so dollars or can I just get some imitation brand? My sister has some and really likes them but I don't know if I trust her.

Im a guy but they look like they are very absorbent and look like a waste of money.

Though they are high quality, you can definitely find another brand just as good for less. If you are talking about the boots style in particular, I can tell you that there are so many variations on them that it doesn't matter if they are the Uggs brand. I remember complimenting a girl on a pair of cute, furry boots she was wearing just to be told by her afterwards that she got them at Walmart.

well. you could buy them.

or you could go out into the country, kill an animal, and wrap it around your ankles.

FUGGS. yeah. cuuuute.
(they look ridiculous)

I would highly advise you to buy some other footwear that would be much more suitable for skiing in the snow. UGGs are actually not supposed to get wet because the outside material gets ruined easily by water (my friend from Australia enlightened me about this). I would hate for you to waste so much money just to get them ruined :/

i like uggs, but as others have said, they aren't meant for snowy environments.

They are comfy, but not meant for wet activities. They sell water proofing liquid, but they still absorb water like crazy. Get some real snow boots.

yeah, they're comfy, but not all that practical for skiing (and they're really ugly, IMO :/)

thanks for the replies. I think I had convinced myself out of buying them even after just asking the question. I actually didn't realize they weren't meant to get wet though... that's very lame.
