<p>I'm a sophomore and took the PSAT for the first time this year. I heard that the stuff colleges send you afterwards isn't that meaningful - what do you say?</p>
<p>It doesn’t mean anything. You’re going to start getting pounds of mail every day. I’d suggest a recycling bag somewhere near where you set the mail… that way you can recycle all the useless college junk you’re going to get :).</p>
<p>My daughter’s inbox is jammed also. She asked me to check it out and it all seemed pretty meaningless to me!</p>

<p>My email started sending a lot of the college mail to my spam folder. I just realized, as a second semester senior, that I could unsubsribe, so, now I do that. Start unsubsrcibing early and do it often.</p>

<p>I’m always shocked and confused when people around here seem to recognize me.</p>
<p>You can always “un-subscribe” from each college’s mailing list. There’s usually a link at the bottom of the email that you can click - really quick and simple, and they’ll never bother you with emails again. And no, those emails are not totally useless, surprisingly! I actually applied to a few schools because they sent me a whole bunch of mail over the years.</p>

<p>At home, our recycling level has gone up… oh, maybe 10fold? since I first took the PSAT. That was in freshman year (required at my school) and now I’m a senior, who knows where she’s headed to next year! My parents refuse to let my younger siblings check the ‘student search’ of the PSAT now. Haha</p>
<p>Wow, okay. I got two letters today - the first ones. I better go find a bin then and designate it exclusively for college mail. 
The mail does make me feel special though - I’ve always loved getting mail haha. Email not so much, but I am archiving the ones I think might come in handy later on. Thanks for the tips!</p>
