Uh oh!....Am I screwed???

For the Brown University app, (which is due jan.1) i am not sure whether my counciler will send the part he has to do in time…I forgot to give him an envelope and stamp, and i dont know whether he will use his own stamp and envelope or not! Now this might not sound like life-threatening, but what should i do? I cant call him or anything because School is out until January 2…I dont know his number because its unlisted, and i dont know anyone who would have his number…

So what would happen if he does not send in his part of the app? All my recommendations have alrady been sent…

What should i do??

They aren't going to even have your application filed by January 2nd. If the recommendation arrives in January, they will simply add it to your file at that time.

I doubt very much that it's the end of the world.

Most people at school have an email that you can find out on the school website. Send an email apologizing profusely! It's a real pain for counselors when people don't send in addressed envelopes and stamps--sometimes, the addess of the admissions office isn't on application and then they have to do research to find the address. That doesn't sound like a lot of work, but multiply it by the 8 applications per person, and then by the number of people who forget, and it can add up to a lot of work.

If your counselor didn't send it in during the holidays on his or her own dime, then bring in an addressed envelope and stamps when you return to school. As interesteddad said, if the recommendation gets mailed right after the New Year, it will be in time to put into your file.

ok. thanks! I was scared that I couldn't apply to Brown because of this....

should i sent a note or something? or just send it in alone?

Yes. Indeed you are screwed. Just imagine if the counselor forgot to do it. Or his dog ate it. Or he ran out of tissue paper while writing your report. And actually sends it in. Pleasant, isn't it?
