I think I'll go die now

I’ve already addressed this issue to an extent in the Common Application forum and received insightful responses, but I am still feeling wary on the matter.

When I graduated from high school last year, I moved to another state, so communication with my teachers and counselor have been difficult. Although I’d asked for their recommendations in the beginning of September, I did not receive them until 1 1/2 weeks ago. There was some sort of horrible misunderstanding : not only did they send ME the recommendations (to my home address and none to the common application), but they also didn’t even use the common application forms! I have not been able to contact them or the college since they are each on break, and I am freaking out. I want to avoid asking them to write an explanatory note since these people refuse to ever be wrong (trust me on this one). The fee waiver was botched as well.

I have all of my applications (Brown, Duke, Yale, Stanford, Colorado College) completed as well as their supplements. I am going to go ahead and send them in by the deadline. Since I will be flying down to my high school to sort this out AS SOON AS WINTER BREAK ENDS as well as contacting the college, do you think I will be okay?

I know that this is highly unacceptable, and I am so upset. Will the late fee waiver and recommendations screw me?

I'm no authority on this, but I think you definitely have the right idea: send everything you can in by the deadline! I get the impression that colleges are a little more lenient about school forms/teacher recommendations getting in late; they know that those parts aren't really in your control. Don't freak out, just follow your plan of action and I think you'll be okay. Good luck!

Thank you for your comforting and reassuring words, mars! =D

Best to write in to brown and explain your situation and let then know what you're going to do to solve the problem. And yeah, send in everything else asap.
