uh oh

I applied for transfer admission... and just realized i sent them an essay that had "brown university" in it. I used a very similar essay for my brown application (brown and wesleyan are similar is sooo many ways, so i love them both equally), so i just did a bit of copying and pasting. oh well, either they'll realize that many of their applicant do apply to brown as well, or they'll see me as a lazy (not lazy, just too overwhelmed with stuff to catch that mistake) that did the app in 5 minutes (also, not true).

anyway, just figured i'd let someone know...

damn... i always read about people that have done that and i always thought "oh, what an idiot... that'll never happen to me."

i guess i'm the idiot now, but it is kinda funny. i truly hope they dont hold it against me.

This is what I heard from a Wes admissions officer once during an information session... they may or may not have been joking :P Or at least, it was something to this effect:

"Every so often we get an application with another school's name in it, proclaiming how this other school is clearly the perfect one for hir. When this happens, we laugh and laugh about it. Oh, how we laugh. These are great times to be an admissions officer. Then we throw away the application."

I think ze was cracking a joke, but mmmm :P Good luck with that :P

eeeeek. maybe he meant they "throw it away" in the accepted pile????? at least i'll give them a good laugh! i like making people laugh.

Call them now if you care at all.

yeah... i sent a fax today and told them to replace the essay with the new one... hopefully they havent gotten to my app yet. i figure, if they have gotten it, then i'm rejected, so sending in the fax certainly couldnt hurt. i'll call them tomorrow to see if they received the fax... dear lord, i hope they got.
