I am split on the decision. I want to be a Biology major and go into pre-medicine, but do not know whether to go the the Honors College at UIC or go to a big school like University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana. Someone help me please!

You do realize that medical schools do not require applicants to major in biology or any other specific major, right? You can take the pre-med courses alongside any major.

true, true…im just wondering which school will be more beneficial to go to for a Biology major

Biology at UIC is an extremely popular major. It is extremely hard to get into your required courses until you are a Junior/Senior.

I currently go to UIC and I am in the Honors College. Nova is right, biology IS a popular major at UIC. A majority of the friends I have made here are biology majors. However, none of them are having any issues getting their required courses. A friend of mine is actually graduating next fall with her Biology degree after only 2 and a half years (with summer school).
While some people view UIUC as a slightly better institution than UIC, in MY opinion, there are a lot more advantages to going to UIC if you’re pre-med. You’re surrounded by hospitals like Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rush University Medical Center, Children’s Memorial Hospital, and even the UIC Medical Center. A lot of my friends volunteer during the year and have internships lined up for the summer.
