what is the reputation of u of i's biochem undergrad program... i know its good for its biological sciences and chemistry programs but what does biochem fall under? I also got accepted to UCB but im inclined to come to u of i instead for location purposes.

can someone please give me some pointers. please. thanks.

UIUC biochemistry department is amazing. It is part of the school of MCB, and produces many excellent students that go on to graduate and professional schools. What is your career plan?

i plan to go to med school for now, but a pure bio/biochem route is definitely not ruled out. I know its kinda shallow as judgement of the department, but do you know the rank of uiuc’s mcb department or biochem major specifically? I couldn’t find much about uiuc biochem but there was a lot more for berkeley.

Go with UCB. Its better and more well rounded college overall.

Biochem here is terrible. They take all the same classes as the chemical engineers and then the mcb classes on top of that. Over 100 kids enter into biochem here and only 8 actually graduate. Obviously biochem is hard but it is unnecessary - I think - for all the chem classes to overlap with the harder chemE classes.
